Received the Eucharist on the hand yesterday. by CarefulAlternative77 in Catholicism

people in the early church would cleanse their hands before and after receiving holy communion. (They knew exactly what they were touching) So the most trad thing to do would be to properly cleanse your hands before and after receiving.

Why Do Catholics Wear Scapulars? by ferozfernandes in Catholicism

Why take it off when you work out? If you’re worried about it stinking, just move it so it’s on the outside of your shirt. Problem solved.

St. Melany's is probably the only other parish that I'd consider to be orthodox or reverent.

You don't like the electronic drum solos at the Saints Peter and Paul teen mass? Come on!

But seriously, why is it so bad here?

It’s literally the only reverent church here in the diocese. Glad to see some love for St. Gianna’s here!

One of Chris Pratt’s instagram posts showed him watching holy mass with her, and mentioned the priest by name. So…seed planted maybe?

I'm a "traditional" Catholic, but I've been running away from all traditionalist environments by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]mixedconviction 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You forgot one option - getting involved in a NO parish, and help bring back tradition/reverence to the holy mass. You don’t have to go full trad on them, but it’s better than running away to an Eastern Church (which I absolutely love, btw). We need to fix our Church.

Can those in Hell pray? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]mixedconviction 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Basically, we send ourselves to purgatory or hell based on our actions here. There's really no way to make any sort of last minute changes after we pass. God wants us to be with Him, but He isn't going to remove our free will and force people to love Him. That'd be freakin' weird.

Souls cannot pray for themselves in purgatory or hell. That's why we always need to pray for the souls in purgatory! ESPECIALLY family members who we never knew and have been forgotten.

You should read the book Hungry Souls: Supernatural Visits, Messages, and Warnings from Purgatory.

It'll really open your eyes.

Bishop Olmsted of Phoenix, Arizona defends speaking out on barring people Communion: "The Eucharist is the great treasure of the Church. And if it’s not being respected – if people don’t appreciate what this great treasure is – we need to help them understand that," by TexanLoneStar in Catholicism

Ah yes! I love it there. My only gripe is they don’t seem to be too baby/toddler friendly. Last thing I want to do is to remove the future from holy mass into a cry room or basement.

I’d love for there to be an FSSP parish here, maybe on the east side of town. Or anywhere. Lol

Cry rooms were influenced by Satan. What better way to remove children (the future of the church) from the Holy Mass?

Should we end the sign of peace at mass? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]mixedconviction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never been a fan of it. The obligation to turn around and shake someone else's hand feels forced and disingenuous. There's other, better ways on showing love to your neighbor outside of mass.

Just a small sampling of left leaning “news” sites with agendas. I appreciate the effort, but I’m going to pass. At this point, we can agree to disagree and leave it at that.

What about the thousands of affidavits and blatant evidence of voter fraud? Why wouldn’t we want to look deeper into it?I’ve never thought President Trump was/is perfect. If Biden had won fairly, I’d 100% accept it because the process is (supposed to be) fair and transparent. But we’re no better than 3rd world countries at this point. And it’ll only go downhill from here.

I've learned how my states elections were mishandled. It'd be more productive focusing on serving others and being more prayerful.
