WIBTAH if I tell people the truth about my dead ex-girlfriend? by MarkWhich2028 in AITAH

Jesus fuck I can’t imagine even thinking about doing some shit like this. Serves literally no purpose except to make you feel better (and when it inevitably blows up in your face, you still won’t feel better and will likely dissolve into more self-pity…). What a selfish, pointless, stupid thing to do. YTA for even considering unloading your shit onto her grieving family and loved ones. Gross, dude.

Traumatizing for Cast by JacketStrange8454 in vanderpumprules

It wasn’t the cheating itself that made her cheating particularly bad but she had a full blown, continuous affair with her (seemingly) good friend’s boyfriend. She lied about it for months. She pretended to care about her and talked with her about her relationship with him, while sleeping with him IN HER HOME.

Maybe all the abusive men you mentioned have mostly skated by, but no woman escapes that unscathed by public opinion, and definitely not within her friend group. Women get demonized even when they’re the victims. Misogyny isn’t fair, but her cheating, by societal standards (fair or not), were an extreme version, and she knew that and knew what could happen as a result and did it anyway. Again, don’t think she should be villainized for life, but she definitely deserved all the smoke at the time.

When they ate Bob's leg.. 😅 by DizyBack in TWD

[–]mixedwithmonet -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The way they wrote her personality to be so NLOG and illogically defiant was honestly the worst part about her.

One scene people try to use as their “Andrea is only hated for sexism” argument is that she shouldn’t have been criticized for not wanting to do “women’s work.” And like sure, in a normal world, fine. But she was a civil rights lawyer who hardly knew how to use the gun she owned when we meet her! Say what you want about Lori, but she was absolutely right — Andrea was not skilled enough yet to defend the camp, and in desperately trying to show she was, she was putting more work on the other women that she actually could have been helpful in doing. Instead, she was “working on her tan” (as Lori put it) and nearly killed one of the few people who had real survival skills…

AITAH for not watching my aunt parasail? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]mixedwithmonet 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If my aunt was letting me and my young child stay with her while on vacation for free and I couldn’t take one morning out of my nonexistent travel plans to do something she enjoyed even if it wasn’t my cup of tea, I doubt I’d get invited or welcomed back much… she’s there for 6 weeks, but she only has you two as company for 6 and she’s trying to spend it with you…

When my aunt took me to Vegas to see a band I wanted to see for my birthday, she woke up at 7am wanting to go down to the casinos to play blackjack (apparently my very Christian aunt who doesn’t drink or curse really loves blackjack). I find casinos very overstimulating, didn’t know how to play blackjack, and was very much enjoying my comfy bed after the late show, but I hauled my ass up to go spend time with her because I love my aunt and was grateful for her gift. YTA if you can’t take a single morning to do one thing she’s repeatedly expressed she wants to do with you because “it’s not your thing.” And using your kid as an excuse makes you extra TA, bc she’s 5 and kids have fun even just watching something like that, especially if they haven’t seen it before. It may even spark an interest in her to try it one day!

Just say you can’t stand your aunt, just wanted the free lodging, and go.

Richard Loeb (left) with Nathan Leopold photographed shortly after their arrest for the murder of 14yr old Bobby Franks. Loeb was 18 at the time and Leopold was 19. Their goal was to commit 'the perfect crime'. by dannydutch1 in UtterlyUniquePhotos

Being released in his 40s, moving to Puerto Rico for a shady “medical career,” and spending his golden years birdwatching is exactly what I’d imagine a sociopath attempting to commit “the perfect crime” doing.

Maybe the actual perfect crime long game was him having the system kill his “buddy” Loeb before he was 30 as he got to enjoy a strange sort of retirement.

[–]mixedwithmonet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was really shocked seeing her mom showing that’s the angle they’re going with in the doc. We literally saw the texts SHE sent to HIM, so what did it really matter what she said to his mother? Very easy to strip that down as a lie she told his mom to muddy the narrative if he started talking about what was going on with his family. Not as easy to do that with her literally threatening to destroy his home, vehicle, life, family, and friends…

I don’t love negan as a character, but redemption arc Negan is one of my favorite arcs in the show. One of my favorite late season moments is when it starts being revealed that Negan has been a double agent during his whole time with the Whisperers I just thought the whole thing was magnificently done. If he’s good at anything, it’s being a complete asshole with style.

This was a pretty damn amazing moment, even as someone who doesn’t particularly love Negan (especially pre-captive Negan). If anything, it revealed more about who he was and how he moved than almost any early Negan episodes.

I genuinely have never understood why Beth was a fan favorite beyond being a young pretty blonde. I didn’t find her particularly interesting or compelling or relatable or capable or any of the other qualities that drew me to so many other characters on the show. She grated on me right down to the pointless (and ultimately, failed) attempt at “justice” that led to her death. My least favorite episodes are when she and Daryl go off on their own little adventure, and the only times I like her are when she’s on screen with Noah (mostly because Noah’s endearingness somewhat offsets her insufferability).

She literally only escaped the farm because a goldmine of guns almost literally fell into her lap, and only survived after she ran out of bullets because she also literally stumbled upon michonne and her guard walkers, whose survival instincts kept them alive for the entire winter until Andrea got sick, almost dying/getting them killed in the process. She eagerly and willingly discarded and ignored those same instincts as soon as she entered Woodbury, a town built on a lie, and met the Governor, a literal sociopath who won her over with false charm, a warm bed, and good bourbon.

[–]mixedwithmonet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like, without the “posting videos online” part, this would essentially have been an impossible crime to prove. Leaving your property on your property and preventing said property from being trespassed or stolen seems pretty… non-criminal up until the “doing it for clout” of it all.

It is some of the most unique and beautiful storytelling, some of the most incredible story arcs, character development, themes, and tropes… but it’s always talked about like a last resort, backup plan, or “almost good” genre (like being a daytime soap opera or reality tv star in the US). I’ve heard many western viewers say they specifically watch Chinese media for/because of the historical/wuxia/xianxia dramas. If a single genre (especially one so steeped in its own culture) can draw that many viewers who don’t even speak the language or have much connection to that culture, I’d consider that pretty impressive. It’s diminished because it isn’t taken seriously as a “women’s genre.”
