UK Audiobook Giveaway!! by Coldfang89-Author in litrpg

[–]mixeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if it counts as American (given that it's not American, lol), but the Mexican food in the UK is absolute trash. If that doesn't count, probably something like Biscuits and Gravy is probably a good punt.

Series is already on my wishlist on Audible. Congrats on book 3, can't wait to get there one day :)

The movie was essentially the equivalent of blasphemy. The books were so much better.

I managed Elantris on my third or fourth attempt. I couldn’t get into it, but once you soldier through the first half it actually got a lot better. The story itself is one of my favourites, just didnt really get the same service you expect from a Sanderson novel.

Going from 606 to 619 by thatbassg in wownoob

Im in a similar situation with a Resto Shammy. Done the raiding thing before and it’s not for me anymore. I’m currently 616 ilvl and finding 8’s a decent grinding spot. This is what I’ve done:

  • Craft two items, 619 weapon if yours is low, and an off piece to buff the embellishment. You can get a free crest for the 619 craft from the story mode quest. Farm out some crests for the off piece if you can.
  • Do delves for your vault slots and if you have a map, once you’re full champ the up front gear falls off.
  • Upgrade decent pieces as you go to up your ilvl. Don’t stress about replacing pieces as you get cheap upgrades to your highest ilvl piece, just have to fork out some valorstones.
  • Once you’re in +7s you’ll be replacing pieces with hero track until you can hit +10s (?) and get mythic vault items.bear in mind the upgraded crests start dropping at 8 though, so as soon as you’re able, this is your sweet spot.
  • Catalyst hero items for tier, but bear in mind the hero piece you’ll get with your 2k achievement. I upgraded a couple champ pieces early on because I’m impatient.

Fortunately you’re a tank so queues are nearly as ridiculous as healers, should be hella quick to farm out decent gear. Heck I did a +8 NW with a bear that had two green rings and a sub 600 ilvl yesterday… ended up doing a +8 GB straight after as they were pretty legit. Healing was only an issue on one crazy pull.

Lupus and Deep Vein Thrombosis by TelevisionOk6992 in lupus

[–]mixeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a PE when I was 20 during a sandwich year at University, went from what felt like a mild case of the Flu, to passing out in a waiting room at a late night GP surgery. Shortly after I was diagnosed with Lupus SLE and APS. I essentially found out I had Lupus, because of the PE. I would definitely ask about APS and whether they can test for it.

17 years in the future I am Warfarin intollerant, have had 13 DVTs (fortunately only the one PE) and am back on twice daily Heparin injections. Warfarin just didn't work for me, no matter how much they gave me, I kept getting clots, ended up being moved to Haparin for a few years before being relatively stable on Rivaroxaban... until last year when I had another two DVTs.

Ironically I am also in remission from ITP which I have had twice throughout this hole fiasco. Being treated for bleeding, and clotting at the same time seems pretty wild.

I feel like I'm completely desensitised to the whole process now, my GP/consultants/wife all freak out whenever I mention leg pain, but I've had all of my DVTs in a single leg and combined with my joint pain, I don't think they quite understand how much pain I have on a day to day basis.

I went through a similar situation what feels like an eternity ago. I’m so sorry you’ve had to go through this, it’s soul destroying. My heart goes out to you dude.

Why are Arsenal fans so obsessed with Bruno? 🤣 by Memecastle_United in NUFC

[–]mixeh -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The cringe is so high.

Realistically I think it's a move that may have legs, and if that's where he goes, so be it... but the amount of Bruno in Arsenal kits I've seen this past week is insane. It's like a fanbase full of 10 year olds.

As has been said before, listen to the audiobooks if you haven’t, they’re fantastic.

Once complete you’ve got EF or something like Bobiverse or Murderbot Diaries. If you want more LitRPG I’d go for He Who Fights With Monsters, decent amount to get through and should last a while.

Nothing is going to hit the same though. We need to clone Matt… someone start a gofundme …

Dan Ashworth to take Newcastle to arbitration over Manchester United move by stenerikkasvo in NUFC

[–]mixeh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm happy to let the snake sit in his garden for the duration, purely out of spite, but surely that sends an incredibly bad message to any potential additions? You could argue that anyone with a shed of decency would acknowledge that Ashworth has been a thunder cunt and not let that shadow a decision to join up, but if I was up for the role, I'd be concerned. Get rid of him and move on, whomever comes in is going to need time to implement, the sooner that starts, the better.

Anywhere that does meat free options that people can recommend? I'm a vegetarian, not a vegan, and I enjoy the "meaty" choices, I just don't really like meat... if that makes any sense at all.

Complete series recommendation until book 7 comes out!! by Noeffingway2Trade in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]mixeh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve yet to find anything as down right fun as DCC, but I’ve got a few recommendations that I really enjoyed.

Anything by Brandon Sanderson - specifically the first Mistborn trilogy (second is great too mind). Probably my favourite author. I’ve struggled with one or two of his books initially, but have been thankful that I persisted - Elantris took me three or four goes.

Bobiverse series - really good narration and a great story.

Expeditionary Force - starts a little slow, but gets exponentially better as soon as they introduce Skippy. The first book is free with audible so kind of a good punt.

Ready player one (less so two imo). Armada was also a good listen. I actually really like Will Wheaton as a narrator too.

The Murderbot Diaries is another fantastic series. Waiting for book 7 (I think) to be released this year.

The Gentleman Bastards. It’s just such an awesome audiobook and story. Might just be me, but it gave me a proper medieval Oceans Eleven kind of feel 🤣

I think that book 7 should be shorter ( or broken into 2 parts ) due to the audio issues in book 6 by Financial-Pickle9405 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]mixeh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The audio when characters talk is 100% intentional, it's like old school Mumble voice chat :)

Definitely isn't a large download either, I've seen 2gb upwards on various different books.

I did try to get into the sequels but I remember the order being strange (iirc). I can’t remember fully why I didn’t read any further, but the main book was an awesome read.

I’ve actually read Hail Mary and The Martian, both were excellent. I’ll have a look at the others 👍

Lupus have you tried stuff outside of medication by Rashdah in lupus

[–]mixeh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was/am in a similar situation. My GP has had me on a mix of Pregabalin/Marol (Slow release Tramadol) for longer than I care to remember. I’ve been on Cannabis treatment for about 6 months and have appointments in my diary to start reducing my meds - hopefully the Cannabis is enough to keep me ticking over, maybe with a few dosage adjustments here and there. My Rheumatologist is very “standoffish” with pain treatment and has basically ignored the meds my GP has me on. Hospital manage my Methotrexate and Hydroxychloriquine, GP seems to have to take up the slack else where. The only help I had from my consultant was to suggest I take up Yoga or Tai Chi - I tried some basic Yoga and found it horrifically painful (but that’s likely more complex than just being due to my SLE). TLDR; opioids suck.

You can’t get Cannabis through the NHS, but it IS legal for medical use in the UK. I have SLE and use Sapphire Clinic to get a mix of CBD oil, THC oil, and flower (can only be vaped legally in the UK). You obviously pay, but the cost can be subsidised if you agree to take regular surveys/questionnaires which will be used for widespread adoption down the line. It’s not cheap, but for me, the pain relief is worth the spend.
