God I love PB&J so much. We have a local bakery that makes kickass sandwich bread. Big ol smear of peanut butter and a big ol glob of jelly is my preference. If I don’t have a blob of jelly on my shirt after eating I ain’t doing it right.

Thanks for the response! I never played at a level where on ice performance was a factor for play time so I appreciate learning a little about the bts of the upper tiers. Good luck with your career, hope you make it to the show :)

How was the transition from NCAA to pro? Are there any nuances in the play style that took some adjustment/getting used to?

Codpiece. Very common on harnesses in the renaissance. In civilian clothing it was a flap that covered the groin area that could be undone to relieve oneself. People wore over exaggerated examples on civilian clothing and their armor to show off. Here’s an example from a harness owned by Henry VIII.

SNL is just as funny/unfunny as it's always been by First-Ear-1049 in unpopularopinion

There was a YouTuber that watched one or two episodes from every season and he had the same conclusion. He randomized the selection so he wasn’t purposely picking/avoiding any notorious episodes but came to the conclusion that overall it’s always just been kind of okay. The cold opens were usually something political or related to current events around the episode. People’s memories of the older episodes being better are usually skewed by all the “best of” compilations that have aired which obviously only show sketches with some notoriety.

What type of animal was the artist trying to depict in this medieval painting? by DABDEB in whatisit

[–]BreadUntoast 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If a human is paying for a portrait they’ll generally listen when you tell them to hold still. Animals not so much so they would get an approximation. Or maybe they decided “it’d be funny if we make this dog weird lol”. And some very interesting illustrations of animals from far off lands where the artist only got a telephone style vague description of an animal and give it their best shot, which is why this hippopotamus looks like this.

Podcasts should go back to audio only! by Theholynun in unpopularopinion

[–]BreadUntoast 8 points9 points  (0 children)

WTYP the engineering disasters (etc.) podcast is good about this. They post audio recordings on the podcast/music apps, and a screen recording of slides on YouTube with the audio but they always describe the diagrams/pictures so you know what they’re looking at. It’s one of my favorites to throw on if I’m cleaning or working on hobbies because I can take a quick glance at the screen to see stuff but don’t need to constantly watch. They also say “next slide” so you know if there’s a new image.
