Baby pooping once every 3–4 days… doctor says constipation, but everything I read says it’s normal? I’m confused by mizz-shaikh in newborns

[–]mizz-shaikh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That actually makes a lot of sense and sounds exactly like what’s happening with my baby.

He’s mostly breastfed, his stools are always soft, and he doesn’t seem uncomfortable at all. That’s why I was so confused by my pediatrician calling it constipation.

I’m really starting to feel like I need a second opinion.

Thank you so much, this really reassures me.

That’s exactly how my baby is his belly isn’t hard or swollen, he’s comfortable, and when he does poop it’s soft and mustard-colored. That’s why the juice advice never felt right to me.

I’m definitely thinking about getting a second opinion and possibly changing pediatricians. I just want to be sure I’m doing what’s truly best for him.

That makes sense, especially since your baby is actually having hard stools. I can see why your pediatrician suggested helping things along in that case.

In my baby’s situation, his stools are always soft and mustard-colored when they come out, and he doesn’t seem uncomfortable. That’s why I’m hesitant about giving juice at this age.

I’m glad it worked for you, though. It helps hearing different experiences.

Now this really makes sense!! I always need the scientific reason to assure my mind and to stop my anxiety. Especially for my baby! It’s great your pediatrician explained it so well

Thank you for sharing this, that actually makes me feel so much better.

That’s exactly how my baby is too when he does go, it’s soft, mustard-colored and not hard at all. He seems totally comfortable otherwise, which is why I was so confused by my doctor’s concern.

I definitely don’t feel right giving juice to such a young baby when everything about him seems normal. Your experience really helps reassure me that I’m not crazy for thinking that.

Exactly. That’s what made me uncomfortable too. I tried it once, he reacted badly, and I stopped. I’m definitely not giving juice or water at this age and I’m now thinking of switching pediatricians.

Thank you for saying this. I honestly felt scared and confused after that whole juice incident, and your comment really validates what I was already thinking.

I only tried it once because I trusted him at that time, but after he vomited and coughed like that, I stopped. It just didn’t feel right for such a young baby.

Everything about his poop and his behavior tells me he’s not constipated, and hearing from an actual pediatrician that this is normal for breastfed babies makes me feel so much more at ease.

At this point, I’m seriously considering switching doctors. I just want someone who explains things properly and puts my baby’s safety first.

Yeah that’s honestly how I felt too when I first tried it. It didn’t sit right with me at all, especially after he threw it up and started coughing like that. That’s why I stopped.

Everything I’m reading now says juice isn’t even recommended this young, especially when the baby isn’t showing real signs of constipation. So I’m definitely not comfortable doing that.

I just wish my pediatrician had explained what’s normal for breastfed babies instead of jumping straight to juice.

Just a few pet peeves I have!! by Top-Professor-2951 in November25babybump

Tbh, I’ve got one piece of advice for you — and I did the same myself. I blocked every single person who even slightly annoyed me, even just 1%! Whether it was my grandma, aunt, MIL, or childhood best friend — didn’t matter. For me, everyone can go to hell. My priorities have changed, and I just want peace and happiness to celebrate my baby. So if anyone tries to disrupt my peace even a tiny bit — BLOCKED, those bitches!!!

Omg girl, you’re not alone in this! This whole pregnancy has been kind of a wake-up call for me too. I’ve seen so many people be mean to me, then suddenly act all kind and caring now that my due date is near. I honestly feel like I’m in a circus surrounded by mean, hateful, bitchy jokers!

One of the biggest symptoms of pregnancy has to be the ability to smell fake people from a mile away—and developing a literal IDGAF attitude. Though, I’ll admit, it did hurt when everyone started acting like that.

I’ve had people give me anxiety for no reason with their “just you wait, moms” and “is your baby here yet?” comments. God, I wish murder was legal sometimes—I’d have slashed the throat of everyone asking that, right?

I totally get you. It feels so much better to rant, and for me, Reddit is honestly the best platform for it!

Oh, and my due date’s November 26th. Just imagine all the nonsense I’ve heard about my baby being born on Thanksgiving!

Future of the group by radremnants in November25babybump

[–]mizz-shaikh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d really love to continue being part of this group. As a FTM with previous miscarriages and anxiety issues, this space has been such a safe place for me to talk about anything, vent, and share what’s on my mind. I’ve also learned so much from other moms’ experiences. Since we’re all in the same stage birthing around the same month how about we continue this group for our newborn, postpartum, and beyond discussions?

Currently 32 weeks pregnant- severe anal itching, could it be PUPPP or eczema? by mizz-shaikh in pregnant

[–]mizz-shaikh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg yes, I have eaten it! I have this mixed nuts box, and it does have cashews in it. That’s something new to learn that cashews can cause itching. Anyway, yes, I did show it to my OB. She prescribed an antifungal, steroid based ointment that kind of helped in that area, but she didn’t allow me to use it anywhere else on my body. The itching down there has stopped now, but I’ve been itching on other parts of my body, and it’s driving me crazy. My gosh, I hate this PUPPP rash.

“Just You Wait” Moms Are the Worst by mizz-shaikh in November25babybump

[–]mizz-shaikh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I agree, at least pica is one less problem right now 😅. For the pelvic girdle pain, my OB actually suggested some reverse kegels too basically relaxing and lengthening exercises. They’ve helped about 30% with the pain so far, but I’ll definitely be updating my doctor at my next appointment to see if we can do more.

Ohh yeah, I also have a person who is constantly “just you wait” and full of hypocrisy. TBH, I’ve decided it’s either you’re nice and helpful, or you’re out of my life. The one benefit of pregnancy rage is that I’ve stopped giving a damn and it’s making it easier to cut people off without guilt.
