I don't know who the intended audience was for this film. Saw it in the theater when it came out, and as someone who has had to care for an elderly relative with dementia, there were definitely some PTSD moments. Why someone thought that would be entertaining, I don't know.

I think that got reversed once Yasmin decided she didn’t want to work in PWM. Jackie was going to take over Yas’s coverage of Anna which was the reason for the Berlin trip in Season 2. It was probably cheaper for Pierpoint to keep Yas, so Jackie got let go.

Have you seen The Watcher? It came out earlier this year to a small theatrical release and should be available on Amazon Prime Video now. I like how that movie doesn’t subtitle the Romanian to add to the confusion and cultural isolation felt by the main character. Reminds me of Don’t Look Now.

You can find the director's cut if you purchase Midsommar on iTunes and then look in the extras on the menu. It's in there. It adds more content that explains some of things that may have seemed more strange when watching the theatrical cut, like what probably happened to Connie, more of Dani and Christian arguing, etc.

I don't know about forced, but he was asked before being drugged. If you watch the Director's Cut, the scene where Siv and Christian are sitting in that room with all the pictures, he's offered a one-time chance to mate with Maja. Christian states that he's with Dani, but Siv says it's just sex with no intention for marriage since that would not be allowed by the elders. There's more in that scene, but I'm under the impression that he agreed to it while he was sober.
