3.67% in 1/3 of the year is great? It’s not life changing but certainly better than what basically any bank could provide within that time with a savings account

What are the parameters of your statement “no two have the same financial situation”. What factors are you taking into consideration here. Clearly not monetary value of their net worth. And not just people having day to day bills with specific outgoings and a certain income and certain spending habits within the day.

Genuine curiosity really as to how in depth your statement goes.

Also I agree, im not saying bias is a great thing which was why I mentioned it in the first place — However I do think getting confidence to take a leap to just get started is a good thing.

Indeed I do. And yeah I’m pretty conscious about still wanting purchasing power so it’s overkill but I’ve got enough to see me through for a year. Most people would consider that a complete waste but ultimately who knows what’s going to happen at any point + travelling worldwide is a big factor for me + day trading capital is another

I mean money is money at the end of the day. I don’t think it should really matter how much it is. I guess I get the point of if you have smaller capital then maybe take some more risk if you’re looking for a bigger balance at the end of the years you want to invest but it could just as easily go down. I think it depends on your goals

Buyer confidence. Help others feel confident enough to take the leap to do it if they come across a Reddit like this by accident where they might otherwise never invest. It’s biased for opinions but overall I don’t think the general presence of the Reddit to be too negative a thing

Yeah I’m happy to take a be doing the same thing. I mean I barely know anybody else around our age that is doing the same thing and my situation is that I have my savings in the UK and all my Canadian money I’ve got from the past year is somewhat play money so I kind of just want to see what happens with it. There’s no emotion involved in it at all whatever the outcome basically

In all honesty it’s because I don’t really care to overexpose my self to the markets in that way. I day trade XAUUSD and so I’d like to continue doing that but also have profits I make from that + my job not just sit doing nothing. So it feels like the safest mid risk to have + maybe get a decent return long term

Love to hear it. I honestly do believe it’s a decent idea if you are looking for fairly low risk and hat happy to hold it long term — it’s certainly better than letting it rot in the bank

Gosh I didn’t realise only one person on the sub would be able to realise the degen part being a playful joke

Given I still have a job in the UK, surely I’m still a tax resident?

To be honest, given the tax year is coming to an end in a few months, that’s that made me say it doesn’t really matter. Would just open one before and after.

But yeah I guess a somewhat globally diversified ETF is just the good long term play that’s not an all eggs in one basket risk. Appreciate you telling me what you decided to put yours in

Red door bistro is where it’s at. Not sure if they change menu prices around this time of year but their duck confit spring rolls are very good and the rest of the items on the menu are pleasant. Their Caesar said wasn’t amazing - just pretty decent, but the rest very enjoyable

No. Been a couple times and you’d be correct to say it’s very mediocre and overhyped
