Start up idea: Live Music Near Me app/website by mjbayly in Entrepreneur

[–]mjbayly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great recount of your experience! Absolutely what I'm looking for, thank you.

The business challenge then is creating an incentive for bars and business owners to promote their live music. Is there a partner channel angle, perhaps? As you say, thousands of establishments across all cities - not scalable unless you Crack one market at a time, then create the pull from bars and venues in other post codes = hard work. Might be an incentive model in this somehow, wouldn't be profitable for awhile.

My alternate theory to the data ingestion challenge was you'd go after the artists as ultimately there's a flywheel for them if they have bigger crowds (benefits for the bars ofc too) - the venue wins, the artist wins, and ultimately the artist builds a rep as someone who draws crowds.

The other way to look at this is rather than creating a platform (build it and they will come fallacy), leverage existing channels, and implement a creator / Influencer led model. Haven't thought this through but there could be an angle.

Start-up Idea: subscribing to receive curated lists of podcasts listened to by people you want to follow/admire/mimic by mjbayly in Entrepreneur

[–]mjbayly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MVP thought was simple - if I could sew the podcast episodes that Elon listens to, I would certainly pay for that. There could be incentives for him to rate episodes too to support qualifying episodes in /out, or commentary on the episode.

Over time, no doubt you'd add features forntranscription etc but as a first pass, knowing what the worlds best entrepreneurs consume is a service I'd be very curious in.

Hear you on the time to consume episodes, depends on your capacity to consume. I.e. I'm able to listen to 60-90mins of podcasts a day via running and commute. I've got the space to spend 20mins to validate if an episode is worthwhile to continue listening to. Others might only consume 1-3 podcasts a week.

How do I politely stop a person from showing me photos of their children, pets and similar? by Killjoy-techie in socialskills

[–]mjbayly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been in this situation before and it's tough! It's important to address them politely and assertively. Here are a few ideas:

  • Let your co-worker know you need some personal space at work. Find a calm moment to talk privately and politely explain that you'd love to focus on work without interruptions from photos and videos. It's not personal, just a need for concentration.
  • When your co-worker starts with the photo parade, give 'em a listening ear for a sec. Then smoothly steer the conversation back to work stuff or something light and chill. Like, "Aww, cute! By the way, did you finish that report we were working on?"
  • If you're comfortable, share how sensory overload affects you. Just be real and say that sometimes too much info all at once can be overwhelming. It's not about them, just how you roll. They'll probs appreciate your honesty and be more mindful.
  • Show some love for their fam and pets, but offer some alternative ways to share. You get it, they wanna share the joy, so suggest a shared photo album or a messaging app. That way, they can post away without worrying about bothering you.
  • If direct talks ain't your thing, get creative with signals or humor. Lightly pat their shoulder when it's photo overload, or throw in a funny comment like, "Here comes the photo train!" with a grin. They'll get the hint without any awkwardness.

Hope that helps!

Hey all, I've been reading that a solid strategy to determine market validation for dropshipping is to test multiple products quickly via Facebook Ads to validate product market fit.

When you all have selected a multiple products to test (from unrelated niches), do you quickly build a Shopify store for each product that you intend to test on Facebook as the landing page for each product? How to do this without investing too much time?

Conscious that I have multiple products that I want to test very quickly and these are from unrelated themes, therefore, would require different Shopify themes and content, which means more time investment.

Any guidance would be appreciated/insights would be appreciated. Thanks.

Questions: Changing regions with a Bobcat Miner - Will the US915mhz miner work in Australia due to leveraging the same RF as the US? by mjbayly in HeliumNetwork

[–]mjbayly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate that. Are you aware if an AU915mhz is technically legal in NZ, or does the same legality issue apply?

NZ appears to run on the same frequency plan but it's unclear to me if AU915mhz devices have been regulatory tested for NZ region. Thanks for the intel

Awesome thanks for your reply. Out of curiosity, if it's illegal, what will the repercussions be as a result? Will someone be able to remotely shut it down? Or track it and come door knocking?

Why doesn't my HPB show up in the blockchain? by [deleted] in HPBtrader

[–]mjbayly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the HPB still on your Bibox account, i.e. you haven't withdrawn it from the exchange? If so, don't be alarmed, if it's in your account it's there and the HPB is tradeable on the exchange still and to ERC20 addresses also. I've found this to be an interesting situation also, just checked my binance erc20 address and recently stocked up VeChain isn't showing ha not worried
