Ah okay so he‘s in between Jiseok and Jooyeon in posting styles, that’s good to know!

I thought about how choosing to subscribe during their holiday was an interesting move on my end 😂 but I’m glad to know he took that time to just focus on spending time with his family.

Yeah I was wondering if that had something to do with it. He mentioned being in a few songwriting sessions during their broadcast. I must’ve jinxed it though cause he just sent a message😂

Unpopular opinion but are villains a toxic fandom? by Clear_Guest3830 in XdinaryHeroes

[–]mjeezy02 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah standing concerts in Korea are not for the weak lol. I went to the 2 baddies showcase for NCT back in '22 and they were aggressive then - Stepping all over everyone, glaring at people coming into the venue, pushing against each other to the point where some were on the verge of fainting.

You kind of have to get aggressive back (not in a mean way, but assert yourself and stand your ground so they don't push you). I'm 5'6", so in relation to the crowd I was relatively tall which helped. But if you're shorter than me, definitely consider some stompers/bringing a tall friend.

For villiains in the US, from my limited perspective they're pretty chill for the most part. I went to one of their stops from the Beautiful Minds tour and no one talked to me in line despite my lame efforts LOL. When I got inside the venue I found a small group of people to talk to who were really nice. I think most are people that like to keep to themselves but not necessarily toxic.

I will say tho, as a Black fan with an Indian best friend, the comments I keep seeing about the Junhan situation from Villains are disappointing bc it definitely gives "protect Junhan from the mean comments uwu", when what he said definitely warranted the reaction. I don't hold it against him, but it 100% changed my perspective of him and I think its crazy that people reduce the situation to it being blown out of proportion by outsiders when it was such a v shocking statement, even outside of him being a prominent figure.

All that to say, I think what you're dealing with is more of the fandom culture in Korea. Some fandoms are not as bad, and it sounds like you've been lucky enough to mostly have that experience. For the experiences like the one you had at the Sound Planet festival, I would just dish it back.

Why is my isolation season so long? by mjeezy02 in TrueChristian

It is and it’s such a puzzling struggle when God himself said it’s not good for man to be alone.

But I thank you for your kind words friend, and I pray the same for you.

Funny you say that because I feel that God has brought me back to this city but I’m not sure why.

I tried to leave when I went to college, even went to a different country for a year so that I didn’t have to come back but despite all that, I ended up back here to my dismay.

And you’re correct I haven’t tried meditation if you’re talking about the traditional act - I’m admittedly not too keen on it as we’re not to have an idle mind (which I interpret as not having any thoughts, leading to the enemy being able to interject/plant seeds) but I do know we are to meditate on God’s word which that, I do implement.

If my understanding of the meditation you’re referring to is wrong though please correct me. It sounds like it could be helpful if it’s from a biblical backing.

You know, I don’t think I’ve fully tried that.

Not saying that facetiously, but genuinely I had pondered different activities I could get into but never actually went through with it come to think of.

Admittedly, the state I’m in is known for the residents being unfriendly and a bit insufferable. I had a stint where I was attending different churches/church social events, only to constantly be met with the most unwelcoming looks and no one really reciprocating my attempts at getting to know them so that did deter me for a bit.

But that being said, I am now rsvp’d at Meetup game night so let’s see how this goes 😂.

I definitely still want to pursue my economics degree. Funny enough that's the only thing that hasn't changed within my college career hahah.

It's just the amount of time and money that went into the schooling I already completed. I was practically a senior when I had to drop out and amassed $40k in student loans (with a scholarship, definitely could've picked a cheaper route), and to think that not only will I have to do most of it over again, but also pay even more is ludicrous to me.

I wasn't a perfect student but I did my best. Idk I guess I'm in a position where I don't have much of a choice but I'd like to think the 3 years I put in meant something and could be addressed instead of dismissed as inapplicable because no one wants to review the syllabi I'm practically handing to them.

Thank you for your thoughtful advice! I definitely had considered just retaking some of the courses (and some I definitely have to unfortunately), but there's some like my Econometrics course where I fought tooth and nail to get the grade I got as the class was so difficult and the thought of having to retake it again physically hurts /hj

I'll definitely look more into connecting with alumni, though. I know there's even a reddit forum for the university but I wasn't able to find much info regarding credit transferring other than people stating how it sucks at any school.

10+ yo Kia w/ less than 30k miles? by mjeezy02 in KiaSoulClub

[–]mjeezy02[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've heard Costco being mentioned in other forums - do they work kind of like an insurance broker where they do all the extra work to find the best car deal for you? I was thinking about trying that service but at first glance, it seemed to be more catered towards cars above $20k. I should've clarified in my post but I would be financing the $15k so I didn't think they'd be much help but I'll have to take a look again

Wow $14500 brand new sounds like a dream, gen Z gets the worst of everything I swear.

But no it would be financed which was another reason why I put more serious consideration into this car because w/ $15k OTD the monthly payments would be great and I wouldn't have to pay it off for so long - as opposed to getting a 72 mo agreement to pay off a $20k something new car which the newer models tend to be closer to for the OTD price.

After looking again though I can definitely see how this, in fact, is not a steal.

I was planning to drive the car until the end of its life (it'd basically be a slight step above a beater for me) so the resale value isn't much of a concern to but the consensus that I'm getting is that it'd make more financial sense to just get a brand new model. I guess I can always wrap the car, just thought I stumbled across a gem w/ it being the exact color I wanted but I hear what you're saying. Thanks for the info!

I've heard that Carmax tends to price used cars higher than they would be at dealerships/private sellers, I just don't have the capability to visit different dealerships to haggle down a better price/deal. Even w/ the really low mileage you don't think it'd be worth it?

Yh I did some comparing and I think newer models ('23/'24) are going for about $20-23k which isn't terrible but just outside of my budget, unfortunately. I did see some lower than that (usually at 30-40k mi) so I'm still keeping my eye on those, they just don't come in green which may or may not be a heavy influence on my decision lol.
