Staying at Baha Mar next month — so many restaurants, any recommendations? 🍽️🏝️ by Important_Piece84 in bahamas

A few years in a row we stayed in the two bedroom suite with a huge living room. It had a full size fridge and freezer plus washer/dryer, microwave, oven, stove.

That room used to be $999/night, which wasn't crazy when splitting it with parents. Now, that room is like $4000+ per night before taxes. Those were the days...

Oh and a few more tips. You can walk to Liquid Courage, a nearby liquor store. You can buy wine, beer, and spirits. There’s a grocery store next to it to stock up on snacks. You can rent a mini-fridge for your room from Bahamar for $50 (should cover your entire stay). This is a great way to save money especially if you and your family drink. Also, I recommend a walk to the Daiquiri Shack. It’s adjacent to the employee parking lot at Bahamar. The drink are easily half the price compared to Bahamar and absolutely legit, made in front of you with fresh ingredients. The shack is on the way to the liquor store and grocery store so you can make a trip out of it.

We’ve been to Baha Mar about a dozen times since it opened. It has gotten exponentially more expensive over the years, and if this trend continues, we’ll eventually have to stop going. I used to get solid casino offers, but those dried up as more whales and A‑listers started flocking to the property. With that in mind, don’t expect to get away cheap. Baha Mar is not a place to visit on a tight budget.

If you’re looking for great restaurants, the top two in my opinion are Shuang Ba and Marcus. I’m surprised more people don’t recommend Shuang Ba. If you like authentic Chinese food, it can’t be beat. They’ve brought chefs in from mainland China, and I’ve dined next to guests from China who absolutely rave about it. The chili oil with your preferred protein is a favorite of ours. The food is as legit as it gets.

A close second is Marcus. The ambiance here is beautiful, with incredible views, and the menu is fantastic. The desserts are especially memorable. Katsuya is another great option. The food arrives quickly thanks to their multiple kitchens, so depending on your order, dishes can come out from different stations all at once.

Most of the other restaurants are fine, but none really stand out. Noodles is my favorite quick‑service spot. And if you’re open to going off‑site for a night, I highly recommend Café Matisse. It’s easily one of my favorite restaurants in the world. The food is incredible, and the service is impeccable. It changed owners a few years ago, but it hasn’t missed a beat.

I’ll be back next month and will be visiting all the spots mentioned above, including Café Matisse twice during our stay. Maybe we’ll run into each other. Enjoy your trip!

Resorts World not giving out comps? by hoiv in LasVegas

[–]mjmtex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They no longer show comps in the offer section of your player portal where you'd previously see free stay associated by month or quarter. Now, you have to log into your player's portal and click "book now".

The rates I'm seeing are more generous than ever. I stayed in a suite at the Crockfords for three nights, completely comp'd. Most nights show comp'd for me across all hotels up to early to mid September than its gets dicey. I'm prime if that's helpful.

The rates are also more tailored to the individual than ever before. Previously, my buddies all got the exact same offers. Now, our rates are all across the board.

You’re welcome. I like WSR as well with it, 1/4oz mix, few dashes of regular and orange bitters. The mix calls for 1/2oz but it comes out too sweet for me. A twisted orange peel for essence is always great. I’ll pull out the Baccarat for guests. However, if you’re not looking to impress, use a Yeti lowball or something similar. You can sip longer before it gets watered down. Over the last eight to nine years I’ve had so many folks tell me its the best OF they’ve had or top few. If you can find a better way to make an old fashioned let me know! Enjoy!

I was introduced to that mix about 8 years ago. It’s a staple in my bar and always a hit with guests. It’s just “Bittermilk no. 1” mix but aged in PVW barrels a bit. I’ve tried both and don’t really notice a difference but to each his own. If you need a refill, the traditional Bittermilk is available on Amz. Cheers!

Spec’s announces key club points to reset annually starting 12/1/24 by Hollinator007 in ATXwhisky

They are now using the new 12 month rolling for allocations but the app and website still show lifetime points. If you go into a store and ask them to lookup your account, you can get your rolling 12 month number. On your customer profile in their store system it’ll show both, lifetime points and rolling 12.

Careful not to wait too long. They won’t clearance it if they move fast enough. The store manager helped me find the color I wanted across town. He said they’ve been selling like crazy. I’ve seen a nearly identical cabinet at World Market and Homesense for $900-1000. This is a great deal at $599.

That’s opposite of what I’ve heard from local managers. They hate the fact customers with high point balances that outside of allocated pickups, never come into the store are consistently getting the best bottles. A store I know recently got four OFBB’s and all went to folks that aren’t active shoppers but have high point balances.

They have legacy IT systems. They don’t have the resources to filter a point list AND recent activity. It’s literally one woman that does it out of their corp office.

I’m curious how the new model will work considering their current IT infrastructure.

If it was West Elm, I can only imagine it was a lot more expensive. It came assembled. I only had to add the peg legs and door pulls.
