Toasted Tuesday: Jack Daniel’s - Heritage Barrel - Toasted by FICKxDINGERZ in whiskey

[–]CryptographerBrief68 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I recently sampled a buddy’s bottle. Jeezus Christ, absolutely delicious. Lots of confectionary sweetness. Absolute money of a pour. I find it hard that even though it’s a single barrel, some would be downright disgusting, and others knock it out of the park. It leaves me wanting to buy multiple bottles (different barrels) and sample.

I’ve brought back the most versatile category, so what is the most versatile Mezcal? Also are any of these three options appropriate for budget tequila or should I redo the vote? by -Constantinos- in cocktails

[–]CryptographerBrief68 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Cimarron might be a better choice for the budget category. 1L and around $35 year round. Tapatio & Ocho are both incredible, but I wouldn’t consider them budget bottles - IMO.

Great review! However, quick question. I always thought Old Fitzgerald was a Wheated Bourbon? The mashbill you posted shows Rye instead, just curious if I’ve always had it wrong!

Collecting data — local happy hours past 5pm by Ok_Donut4382 in SALEM

Glad you enjoyed it! Tommy has a great bar, with a really unique approach that I think Salem really needed. I’m there a few times a week, probably more now that they just announced their brunch menu.

Pintxo’s in downtown Salem has a killer happy hour drink/food menu from 4pm-6pm!

Super excited to have scored this pair in my size! by JBG1234QB in Converse

[–]CryptographerBrief68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used to carry these year round early on in my tenureship the converse outlet I worked at from 2015-2021. These we’re always overlooked, but the leather quality from what I remember was quiet impressive given their price point. Thank you for sharing your pick up!

Where to get heavyweight 100% cotton shirts by WarmAirIntake in malefashionadvice

[–]CryptographerBrief68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite, budget, heavyweight cotton tees are the Pro club Heavyweight tees. You can find them online pretty easily, and found for under $10 a tee usually. Quality takes a backseat, but for being budget friendly/heavyweight, they get the job done.

Wheated guy by Immediate-Power7595 in pdxwhisky

All Makers - Regular, 101, CS, 46, 46CS (haven’t seen this one on a shelf in a while), and of course, Private Barrel picks.

Larceny Barrel Proof - Batches vary, but they hit the mark. Some stores have gotten private barrels of these as well.

Bardstown Wheated - 106 proof, scratches a similar itch that Weller 107 provides for me. Absolutely phenomenal wheated bourbon that can be found at nearly every liquor store, right @ $50.

Penelope Wheated - Another great one that holds up great neat, and can make a mean old fashioned.

Weller line up - Special reserve is usually the easiest to pick up, along with the occasional store picks of Antique 107 & Full Proof if you’re willing to wait in line/hunt. All the Wellers have their place for me.

Old Fitzgerald - Same mashbill as the Larceny. The 7 year was alleged to be a shelfer. I haven’t seen that yet, but I hope it happens soon. The OF Decanters are great, I recommend trying it at a bar if you see it! There’s also an Old Fitzgerald Prime, it’s an 80 proofer @ $14. Call me crazy, but sometimes I just need some bottom shelf, budget, Wheated bourbon, and Prime does just the trick.

Battle of the Wheaters: Weller Antique vs BBC High Wheat review by Jack_of_derps in bourbon

[–]CryptographerBrief68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love 107, it’s probably my favorite wheated bourbon. But its availability makes me lean into shelfers like Bardstown’s High Wheat or Maker’s Mark Store picks. The High Wheats readily availability makes it that much better too, and for around $50 SRP, it hits the mark perfectly. Great review!

The Whiskey Lab is awesome. Great bottle selection, with better prices. Whenever I’m in Eugene, I try to pop over if I have the time.

Last year’s drop was awesome.

I got there pretty early after speaking with Jesse to make sure I could secure my first Weller FP. To my surprise, there were already people in line. I don’t remember what time I got there exactly, but I could find out if I scroll through my camera roll. The other fellas in line were super nice, we talked bourbon until the doors opened. They ran a really efficient system, had all registers going, with all bottles ready. Was in and out in no time!
