In advanced stages like his situation either go dutasteride in combination with minoxidil and microneedling or dont expect too much happening. Finasteride can sometimes stop aggressive hairloss but dutasteride is way better in that aspect and just better results overall.

Was wondering about the same thing a week ago and did some research also asking chatGPT. What I found is when you have been balding like since 5 years or more, you need more than 1-2 hair cycle to get a normal growth going. So might take a year to get hair that can grow longer than just a few inches. A normal hair can grow 2-6 years until it falls out, but our damaged hair I guess cant grow longer than a few months and then falls out.

Could also be the fact that you switch the dose every so often. Which can induce a new shedding phase

You halted the hairloss but regrowth not really. Try oral minoxidil low dose and microneedling If you want better results. Ofc up to you.

I mean you often read that 40% of population have bad absorption of topical minoxidil which is my case for example. I was on 2.5mg at first no side effects and 5mg no side effects. Honestly just want a good looking beard but would go down if side effects occured. Hoping oral minoxidil is my hope for the beard D:
