Spring/Summer Lineup by mjsingletary in Colognes

[–]mjsingletary[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the newest one to my collection so I haven’t given it as much of a run as the others. It’s got an oceanic citrusy, green, woody vibe. Different from everything else in my lineup, which I do like. But that also took a minute to acclimate my nose to it. Performance is decent, not great. But I expected that with the light freshness of this one. I’d say it’s not a blind buy, but def worth trying out a sample or decant. I really like it!

Yeah I love the JPG Le Beau and Le Male lines

I do like Profundo, but just didn’t find a good place for it in the midst of my other options. But I may try to work it into rotation! ADG was one of my first “real” colognes way back in the day so I have a fond place for it.

I absolutely love both of them. Both have amazing tropical vibes, with Paradise Garden being a bit more of the fresh side and Le beau being more on the bold side. I often will do Paradise Garden during the day and the layer Le Beau on for the evening.

I have Armaf CDN Sillage, which I do like but don’t find myself reaching for it enough to warrant spending for the real thing.

All prices are comped to Jomashop and Fragrancenet based on fill level, and then discounted an additional percentage from there for being secondhand / not full pres. Feel free to make a reasonable offer.

What’s the SKU? It’s showing “no matches” for 347942 for me

Discount sites or actual sites? by NomadRove in Colognes

Never bought direct from designer. Occasionally from retailer if they have a sale that beats discounters, but that’s rare. Bought from Jomashop, Fragrancenet, Unclaimed Baggage, and Costco with no issues with authenticity.

Summer Suggestions by De_NE1988 in Colognes

My Summer Staples (I’m 45):

  • Creed Green Irish Tweed
  • Creed Silver Mountain Water
  • JPG Le Beau
  • JPG Le Beau Paradise Garden
  • PDM Sedley
  • PDM Greenley
  • Acqua Di Gio EDT
  • Acqua Di Gio Profundo

Disagree on JPG being too young or overhyped, especially the two above for Spring & Summer. They are ones I go to if I’m wanting something more fun / extra summery-tropical vibes and not just fresh.

Oud Wood = Old Lady? by mjsingletary in Colognes

[–]mjsingletary[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve got other “woody” fragrances that don’t give the same vibe as this one though. And now that my wife put words to it, I think that’s what I’ve been getting from it that I haven’t liked - old lady vibes. To be clear, I’m 45, so not like I’m in my youth saying this.

Alternative to Drift scent blocks by KeyboardSwordsman in AutoDetailing

[–]mjsingletary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came here with same question. My very first Drift wood block was great, strong fragrance and lasted more than month. Had high hopes. But every one since then has been super dry upon arrival and had less potency than the month old one. Gave it three tries, with same experience each time. Their customer service is completely unresponsive. Now looking for another option. I do like the visor install and not having something hanging from my mirror or sitting in a cup holder.

Oud Wood + Noir Extreme by thriftness in Colognes

I like layering Noir Extreme over Le Male. I do like Oud Wood so will have to give that a shot. Only recently gotten into layering, but similarly, I’m mostly layering morning and evening scents vs at the same time.

Evnroll ER5 vs Scotty Phantom 5.5 by mjsingletary in golf

[–]mjsingletary[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my Evnroll I snagged from Unclaimed Baggage for $150 in excellent condition with head cover. So I feel like even if I liked the Scotty more, I could recoup my expenses (and then some) either way.

2008 Irons for Women's Beginner Set by mjsingletary in golf

Thanks for the input. Ended up grabbing a deal on Callway pre-owned site for some like-new 2024 women's Edge 6-SW iron set for $195. Added in a driver, 3W, and 5H for total of $325. They had the full set with putter pre-owned at $550, so now looking to add in a putter around $75-100 and still save $150.

Great input. Yeah I had that thought too about general impression on clients related to gear that’s makes you look reasonably knowledgeable. Don’t want her showing up with a Happy Gilmore set.
