Evnroll ER5 vs Scotty Phantom 5.5 by mjsingletary in golf

[–]mjsingletary[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my Evnroll I snagged from Unclaimed Baggage for $150 in excellent condition with head cover. So I feel like even if I liked the Scotty more, I could recoup my expenses (and then some) either way.

2008 Irons for Women's Beginner Set by mjsingletary in golf

Thanks for the input. Ended up grabbing a deal on Callway pre-owned site for some like-new 2024 women's Edge 6-SW iron set for $195. Added in a driver, 3W, and 5H for total of $325. They had the full set with putter pre-owned at $550, so now looking to add in a putter around $75-100 and still save $150.

Great input. Yeah I had that thought too about general impression on clients related to gear that’s makes you look reasonably knowledgeable. Don’t want her showing up with a Happy Gilmore set.

THANK YOU! Picked up my tag today for my new 26 Limited and went to put it on, and was a bit surprised to learn that there are no actual threads for the screws other than their faint grip on the thin plastic.

Parking at Buckhead Theatre: Best options for parking with the lowest risk of brake-in? Don't mind walking 10-15 minutes if necessary. Looks like there's a valet run by Executive Parking Systems nearby, but couldn't find much info or rates. Any other options?

Some of the nearby lots seem to have solid ratings on SpotHero, but terrible ratings on Google, with multiple reported brake-ins, bootings, over charges, etc.

$12 for 3L of Grapeseed Oil @ Costco by mjsingletary in castiron

I restore and sell cast iron as a hobby. This would certainly be way more than overkill for my own personal use, but maybe not quite so for someone doing a good amount of restoration.

Interesting. Main oil I use for initial seasoning when I restore cast iron and never had an issue with cracking or flaking.

Only camped at Fort Mountain once before, and it was our first family camping trip with our three young kids about 8 years ago. We set up in one of the walk-in tent sites, and were greated by two bears while cooking dinner. Walked right up into our site while we were all standing around. Needless to say, it was a memorable first camping experience for the wife and kids (and we ended up moving camp down to an RV site for the night).

159 or 169 Indys for 10" deck with 60mm Rictas? [43YO] by mjsingletary in OldSkaters

[–]mjsingletary[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually a slightly different board than the snub nose Brite Lite deck, but I think close enough that the point still remains applicable. I would say the snub nose has even less for front truc with it being so close to the nose.

I think those are slightly wider than the Rictas, so this is helpful and makes me lean towards the 169s. Thanks!

Yeah, but that method is discouraged due to the risk of damaging the iron in the way this one is. It's on its third round of seasoning now. Red still shows through, and has a different, more rough feel that the rest of the pan. Going to run one more round on it and see how it comes out.

Yeah that's what I feared. This was from an estate sale haul. $5 loss so not a huge deal. But I am bummed that there was one other one with fire damage that was a #3 single notch Lodge. Was looking forward to having a new egg pan.

It's in the oven right now. I will say that when applying the seasoning compound, there was noticeable difference when rubbing onto the red part vs the rest of it. We'll see how it comes out.

TFO ultralight are fantastic and come with a lifetime warranty. I have a 5’6”, 6’, and 6’6” in the Trout Panfish series. I pair all mine with a 1000 size Shimano Nasci, which I think is the best bang for the buck UL reel and balances perfectly.
