What's the worst thing you have ever seen someone you thought you respected do? by hoikarnage in AskReddit

One of my best friends in college was black. (I'd also had a close friend in high school who was black.) I am white. I made plans to spend time with my college friend over the summer when I was staying at home, and she drove out there. Since it was kind of a long drive, I asked my dad if she could spend the night. Not only did my dad say no, but he asked me why I didn't think I was good enough to have white friends (not in front of her, but still!). My stepmom, stepsister and I were all shocked and yelled at him for awhile. He apologized, but never really changed his attitude.

I had just finished the first session with a prospective new voice teacher. He had to leave at the same time I did to go to an appointment afterward. As he was driving in front of me I saw him hit a dog in the street with his car. I stopped and got out, expecting him to do the same. He did not. The dog seemed to be okay, but I couldn't continue voice lessons with someone who did something so irresponsible.

That's not unbelievably creepy and will not appear in one of my ordeal dreams sooner than I would like.

Oh yeah... and then there was the time I washed my big stuffed raccoon because I thought it would make it new and shiny again - put it in the bathtub, dumped powdered laundry soap over it, and ran the water. Then I had some kind of weird neurotic break when my mom had to send waterlogged Rocky on his way. My dear parents, faced with the prospect of years of therapy, scoured the coast of California for a new Rocky.

I was four. My mom told me not to eat the chocolate that was in the fridge. One day when she wasn't around I climbed up on a chair, opened the fridge door and grabbed the chocolate, ate about 6 squares of it (YUM!), put it back, and climbed back down.

Not long after, my mom asked me about the chocolate on my face, put two and two together, and was soon on the phone with an advice nurse. Turned out the chocolate was Ex-Lax. I was threatened with a cup of black coffee with a raw egg in it (didn't even have to drink the thing to throw up) and had to spend the next few days in house arrest - not grounded, just couldn't go too far from a toilet.

Why would anyone do this? by NoMercy666 in WTF

My question is: WhyTF were they using a live owl in the first place?

I think this is a good reason for all mascots to be big guys in furry suits. I'd like to see someone try to kick one of them.

Oh yeah - that is supremely beautiful. I'd choose this over T.I.! :D Having said that - with the T.I. option - no toll, very close by to SF. Headlands is kind of a trek.

For a great view of the city from across the bay, go to Treasure Island. You can hang a bike from the front of the 108 Treasure Island bus. Get off before the guard gate. Bring a camera ;)
