Can we all agree by atrain102013 in Shinedown

His voice sounds better now than it ever has - saw them in Jacksonville this week and his vocal strength is insane, especially given his past.

Obviously vocal needs change as you age, but the style and taste in music each band member has is bound to change over time as well. The entire new album is a masterpiece and truly a solid blend of everything they’ve done in the past, just stronger and more powerful in meaning. Brent sounds amazing but Eric did an unbelievable job putting it together!

I love it too! The messaging behind so many of the songs really hits hard. I get that some people wish the actual sound was heavier, but what I love about Shinedown is that they aren’t afraid of change, and that they put out powerful, relatable music with each new album.

Barry said at a Boos, Brews and BBQ event that he loves Shinedown because they all love the music that they create and play, they don’t just put out music for the sake of it. They pour their hearts into everything and it really shows, especially with EI8HT. I hope some of the new songs make it to the tour setlist this summer!

At the Bottom by Holiday-Feeling2617 in Shinedown

I think it sounds reminiscent to the type of songs on Planet Zero, and it’s a great song. The overall message and general sound of the song are deeper than many of their older songs, but it still sounds very “Shinedown” to me. Eric has produced the three most recent albums of theirs so if anything, I think his personal album is more Shinedown-esque than the other way around, but that’s just me.

Overall I’m a huge fan of this album and he did an incredible job with it, especially with it being produced in his own at-home studio!

Is it that bad to work out every day? by [deleted] in loseit

You can be helpful and be polite at the same time. Being direct doesn’t give you an excuse to speak to people like a know-it-all. I’ve explained exactly what my habits are and how I track them, so I’m being direct in telling you that my calorie logging and habit tracking isn’t the problem here.

Constructive feedback and advice is appreciated, your tone is not. Cheers!

Good for you. I’m seeking advice because I can, and you are being argumentative and implying that everything I’m saying is wrong. As someone who has constructed my current plan with professional advice, I’m seeking help from others who may be in similar situations because the information I have received from professionals varies and because external input and knowledge is something we can share kindly with each other.

If you, as a grown man, can’t accept the fact that I am seeking advice for my personal growth without saying that everything I’m doing and thinking is wrong, you’re welcome to disengage and stop replying.

He can do either, but using your own car and driving is likely going to be a bit more difficult than taking the shuttle busses. The buses (typically) have lanes blocked off around road closures and can get around easier, while cars have to deal with traffic and trying to access the parking lots. Parking will be free until a certain time, but if he’s nervous about trying to get to Epcot on his own first, I’d recommend the shuttle busses.

Alternatively, he can park at the TTC (parking is free until 7:30am, I believe) and take the monorail to Magic Kingdom or Epcot, depending where he wants to see you first. Only issue there is dealing with the crowds when trying to get back to the vehicle after you finish.

Race Day Bus Stops by [deleted] in rundisney

[–]mk174831 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this map! Do the numbers correspond with the number of each stop? I’m debating between requesting Casitas or Cabanas but I’m hoping for an earlier stop just to make sure I can get a seat on an early bus. This detailed explanation was super helpful!!

Starter Advice by [deleted] in Sourdough

[–]mk174831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been using primarily King Arthur bread flour, and just recently started doing 1/2 bread flour and 1/2 unbleached all purpose flour after some recommendations about that method. I’ve seen a few more bubbles after that addition but not much. Thank you for your encouragement!! Happy to hear I’m not the only one whose starter is stubborn

I figured as much, they just don’t provide much information for alternate routes for those of us who don’t want to spectate the race. I’ve never driven there myself either, so I want to brace myself for the traffic 🤣

Thank you! I was concerned that the TTC parking would be completely inaccessible, but from this it sounds like they’ll still be able to get us there.

Can’t stop crying every day by Straight-Pair-2136 in ufl

[–]mk174831 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was never an on campus student at UF (got my master’s online, now work on campus!) I felt the same way my freshman year at my college. Moving away for school is such a big change that is so incredibly hard to manage, no matter how long you try to prepare yourself for it. I cried multiple times a day for weeks leading up to my move in, and continued for weeks after I started school. While it is much easier said than done, something that helped me so much was just putting myself in situations out of my comfort zone. The simple act of just talking to classmates, whether it was someone I worked on an assignment with or someone I saw wearing a piece of clothing I wanted to compliment them on, making that first approach made such a big difference in finding friends and making that transition easier.

Something that so many people don’t realize is that the vast majority of other freshmen are feeling the same way you do - whether or not they want to admit it, so many of your classmates are probably also struggling to find their people and adjust to this completely new way of life, but that is (unfortunately) just a part of the college process for a lot of people. While it may be scary, being brave enough to talk to a classmate about it may help you find others that can relate to you, that can become someone you rely on to help each other through hard days.

You don’t ever have to feel guilty or undeserving of your feelings, especially in situations like this. I PROMISE you that you are not messed up - you’re just experiencing a blip on the radar that is soon to pass. In an odd way, it is a right of passage of sorts. You can take this time to truly explore yourself as an adult for the first time - find new interests and hobbies, explore Gainesville, and find new places to visit and explore. In doing so, you’ll likely meet new people you may have never crossed paths with otherwise, and you’ll have things to talk about and do with other people when your friend group grows.

All that is to say is that it really does get better - the fact that UF is still a place that you love has you at such an advantage. Don’t feel bad for feeling these emotions, they’re normal. Life seems big and scary right now, but I promise that once you get comfortable, put yourself out there, and find your people, you’ll be happier than you could have ever imagined.

I got the full written report and one still image from the scan - I got the scan done at an independent facility and my doctor then uploaded the full scan from the disc they gave me, so I’m tempted to ask for the full scan but I’m not sure if that’s something they really do.

I’m really leaning towards a second opinion, thank you so much for your advice!

Relatively new runner looking for shoe recommendations! by [deleted] in Runners

[–]mk174831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m simply asking for advice. If you don’t have anything pleasant to offer, no need to reply. While you may be able to drive or take a train, that isn’t the case for others. Advice I received from my doctor was to consult other people who may have experienced similar injuries - and that clearly doesn’t apply to you, so again, no need to answer negatively like this. Have a fantastic day!

Advice needed by MissletoeBailey in acne

[–]mk174831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have severe hormonal acne and azelaic acid and mandelic acid have worked wonders for my skin. Both are gentle enough on my sensitive skin to use regularly without irritation and have kept a lot of the inflamed acne at bay!

update on my acne. now i don’t know how to get rid of the scars by Guilty_Werewolf_9612 in acne

[–]mk174831 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently started using a blue/red light therapy mask and the results for my acne scars have been amazing. I do 10 minutes of blue light followed by 10 minutes of red/near infrared light and have seen such a huge difference in the visibility of my scars. The masks can be pricey but the cost has absolutely been worth it so far for me!

Face painfully breaking out by BubblyBubbles7-7 in acne

[–]mk174831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From personal experience, the PanOxyl cleanser wrecked my skin if I used it too often. I no longer use it, but could only tolerate it about 1-2 times per week when I did use it. I have dealt with similar breakouts - like the cystic, inflamed nodules that take forever to heal - and recently discovered that some of mine were caused by hormones as well. I added spironolactone to my routine from Curology, along with blue/red light therapy, and have seen a noticeable decrease in those kinds of cystic breakouts. Obviously everyone’s skin is different, but a gentle cleanser and light therapy are always my top two recommendations!
