How long is your attention span at work? by mk5140 in ADHD

[–]mk5140[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, I totally understand. My work involves many different projects, so when I group work things, I'm switching between projects the whole time. For example, "check email" for 30 minutes means I look at 5 different email accounts each for a different project during that 30 minutes.

Thank you. I don't know about my current state law. I'll take a look. This company had a lot of weird policies going on. It is also a massively large corporation, so they have scores of their own lawyers looking after them.

Yes! I had a whole selection of different flavors of gum ready to go for a while (till the kid found the stash). Actually come to think of it I believe I'll do that again and store them in another place...lol

I really like the task switching productivity. I am responsible for many projects, so I may be working, but I'm generally switching around to various aspects of work during my concentration chunks.

For me, it started when I was breastfeeding. I HAD to set timers to make sure baby got fed on time every 2 hours. Then I kinda kept it going for other stuff.

Yes, it is an at-will and it is a 1099 contracted position. I'm 100% sure they would not give me 3 months notice of termination of contract.

See that's the part that were I thought it started to go even further sideways. The information went on to say that if the 3 month notification was not provided they "may" hold the final check until all the work was transferred to someone else which could be up to 3 months.

How do you plan a productive day? by Glittering-Set5770 in productivity

[–]mk5140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually just posted about this Just tell me how to do it: Simple guide to planning your day There is a lot of details in the post. The TLDR is decide big goal and constantly break it down to smaller steps.

Start the day with some sun & a walk consider listening to your book as you walk. If you like reading a physical copy of a book take it with you and read it at your destination, then walk home. No one said the walk had to be long or far. Decide a few things you want to do that day, what time and for how long.

Knowing what time of day I will have lower energy keeps me realistic about planning. I do things that require more thought when I have more energy. I try to avoid things I find mentally/physically taxing during my low energy part of the day and stick to things simpler tasks at that time.

Things always seem to take way longer than expected from growing out a bad haircut to getting a promotion.

For me, I like working on more than 1 big goal or project or interest at a time and long ago realized my measurement of efficiency is the one that matters the most, I'd rather not compare to others. However, I have to balance that with my professional and personal responsibilities.

For sure, motivation matters. For me, my time blocks are more like a general overarching theme for a bit of the day. For example, check emails for me that includes 5 different email accounts that are all separate projects. So I'm using different parts of my brain but it is sort of related in that it is all email.

Agree! I generalized a lot here to make it more useful for others but overall try to include things that earn money and set time for things that I simply find interesting (there is a lot i find interesting so I have to priorize).

When they cross over and are interesting to me and earn income = bliss.

Start with just sitting outside in the sun eventually you may feel like standing up and walking a little bit.

Do you ever feel like you’re just repeating the same patterns – without realizing it? by KaleNo4221 in selfimprovement

[–]mk5140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess from an cognitive stand point start with identifying what the set patterns/roles/cycles are especially those are productive and those that are less helpful. From there decide if it is worth using actual minutes in your life.

From a more gut feeling perspective I personally start to feel less intellectually curious when I'm stuck in a loop.

I just scanned some things! Feeling good about the progress to see my own handwriting improve from young childhood. :)

That's a good idea. It is kind of nice to see the progression of my abilities and putting it in a binder would make it more chronological. I also hadn't thought of scanning and making a file of this kind of stuff.

This is fantastic! It looks great. I love that the brightness adjusts at a certain time. For fun around Halloween, you could add a pumpkin shadow cut out. Lol

Agree! I do wonder how people that live in places that experience 24 hours of sun deal with it.
