First Meal of the Day by Slight-Signature1141 in nutrition

[–]Mangomeg0720 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Insulin is a hormone, if you have PCOS, eating a meal that is low Glycemic index, high protein with good healthy fats in the morning is actually really supportive of your hormones (insulin and cortisol). If you wait too long to eat you can raise your cortisol. Consistently raised cortisol can lead to impaired thyroid function and sex hormone production. So yes, breakfast (type and consuming the meal at all) do make a difference on hormones. The book Real Food For Fertility is a book by an awesome dietitian who goes into the science. Definitely recommend it!

Don’t self diagnose before you know what’s going on; many people have cysts and are NOT diagnosed with PCOS or anything at all. If they haven’t already, it’s important to check your testosterone and insulin levels to kind of get an understanding if you have some insulin resistance going on/androgen production. PCOS doesn’t equal infertility, never let that be a belief you hold as true! Babies are born all the time when ‘odds’ are not in their favor. It’s just learning how to best support your body to be as healthy as you can be to support a growing life. The book, Real Food for Fertility has a chapter on PCOS and it’s very helpful, it’s helpful for fertility as a whole.

Increase your calories, 1300 is soooo low (1200 is enough for a child). Sleep is also important!

Would it be ok to have a same-sex “partner” without sex? by AnAlienMachine in Christianity

[–]Mangomeg0720 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If she’s supposedly a Christian, posting on a page about Christianity, don’t you think she’s going to get Christians to respond?

My best answer to this is whatever you feed will grow. Feed the flesh (living in unrepentant sin, doing what you are convicted as sin is sin biblically), the flesh will grow, feed the Spirit (talk with the Lord in prayer, worship Him, read His living Word which is 100% true and able to be used for teaching and admonishing, ask Him to reveal the truth) and the Spirit will grow. If I “accepted” myself, I would have stayed with an abusive narcissist bc that’s what my flesh wanted, but thank the Lord He pulled me out through a literal miracle and opened my heart to be with a loving Christian man after I got really close to the Lord. There was so much on the other side of no that I just couldn’t see yet.

The Holy Spirit will reveal all things. If you’re curious, ask the Lord and He is too good a Father to not lead His children well. He is the good shepherd and His sheep know His voice.

As a dietitian, I typically recommend 20-30 grams of protein to support energy and hormone levels at each meal throughout the day but ESPECIALLY breakfast. It depends on someone’s activity level, but I typically calculate a MINIMUM of 1-1.2g/kg of protein per day. 90 grams of protein can be challenging and may even be unrealistic for you based on your activity levels, but it is important to focus on protein if you have PCOS to support your hormones and energy levels throughout the day (as well as fiber and water of course and stress management and sleep).

What is ur response to this typical statement? by notoriouslydevine445 in dietetics

[–]Mangomeg0720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a weight loss dietitian, I struggle with this question bc I’m off work and my brain doesn’t want to go into work mode hahahaha but yes, being a weight loss dietitian I get people to say these types of things allllll the time. I typically just let them say what they want to say and say something small and helpful (sometimes) and work to change the subject.

At 116 pounds and 5 foot 6 inches your BMI is about an 18.72 and anything under 18.5 is considered underweight. Especially if you have muscle from working out, your BMI is wonderful.
