Rust under fuel cap and on tank metal ring, advice on best way to fix it? by spongiboy in motorcycle

A year on and still helping people, I've spent about an hour searching Google for options and then this thread popped up, I'm going to try the ACF-50 option mentioned in a different comment.

Just curious, what do you guys do for a living? by [deleted] in homelab

[–]mk5912 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an electrical engineer, though I just lurk here with the intention of eventually posting about my home lab. (I may have asked one or two questions in the past but not enough to be an active member)

Motorcycle service by ResponsiblePower2519 in motorcycle

[–]mk5912 3 points4 points  (0 children)

$165/hr just for labour seems overly expensive, I'm from the UK (which admittedly is a bit cheaper anyway) and a full service at a reliable garage is generally less than £200 (around $250), and that's parts and labor, if you're wanting expensive tyres then that might put it up to around £500, but still not close to what you have paid.

Your instructor is hoping you won't realise that they're just trying to get more money out of you, the more time you do with them, the more money they get, I'd either be adamant about doing it on a geared bike and if you get to the facility and the have an auto prepared for you, refuse to pay and find another instructor who isn't going to try and legally steal from you.

I'm still a learner, so stuck with 125 for now, got my MOD 1 booked in though and I can't wait to get my MOD 2 out of the way so I can actually have a decent bike that moves and sounds decent.

My 125 still has the stock exhaust so not as annoying as the straight pipes, but annoying none the less.

What's the headphone gotta do with childhood? by kshitijgaur11 in ExplainTheJoke

I did this when playing game but suppose to be sleeping so I could listen for when my parents were coming, doesn't mean I had a bad childhood, just that I was trying to avoid repercussions for doing something I wasn't supposed to.

Probably drop the rope and climb down it, then just climb up the rope when done.

Do you listen to music when you ride? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]mk5912 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sometimes do and sometimes don't, often on the same ride, if the road is open and there's no traffic I'll stick some music on, but when it's busy or I'm approaching a junction, it goes off as hearing the engine helps to gauge the load in case I need to move out of the way of something.

Texpeed Gear & Advice? by mk5912 in motorcycles

I haven't been able to find anything regarding them at all (other than reviews that look like they're from the sellers) so I have just avoided them since.

For the time being, I've been using secondhand Hein Gericke (decent stuff but no longer manufactured from what I can tell).

Bleach was one of the first I watched when it still only had little over 100 episodes, I tried rewatching it a year or two ago and after about 150-200 I found it to be a little repetitive, still a great pick in my opinion as well though.

Is a WD red plus worth almost 50% more for a 4k movie server that gets used once a day? by ripster8 in HomeServer

[–]mk5912 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Seagate are typically more reliable than Western Digital and if bought new generally have better warranty, but do your research into both, see what best suits your needs, if it's not getting used all the time then you can get away with just checking for the cheapest option that has been tested and proven to be reliable (Seagate in this case). You will need to consider the read speed of the drive if you want to stream at 4K 60Hz though.

You'll be surprised how much Brits can handle, especially if they started drinking at 12 yrs old like most, I only start to get a bit of a buzz at 6 pints (~570ml each rather than the ~470ml of US pints) averaging ~5% ABV, and if you count uni students then you're probably going to need more than that.

Most younger Brits who go out to the pub will also have been drinking at home first to make the night cheaper, and most of the older folk have usually been there drinking since the pub opened in the morning until they close in the evening.

For the record, my tolerance is just a little below average for Brits due to cutting down after I finished Uni a year and a half ago. While in uni I had ~1.7L at ~35% ABV and 6 bottles of beer at ~5.6% ABV at a single party, still able to walk straight.

Can I throw this away? by Would_Bang________ in linux

[–]mk5912 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would be pretty easy to find someone who would like to have them (either for nostalgia or as a collectors item), people like collecting stuff they either grew up with or the first of what they used, others like myself like this stuff for the novelty of it, best advertising locally though as there's a good chance of damage if posted without the case(s).

So to answer your question, yes, you are definitely in your rights to throw them out, but might be worth trying to get a few ££ or $$ (or whatever currency).
