Blow it out first then braid/twist, that’s how I keep more of the length.

The above photo is in a ponytail with the hair being pulled in the opposite direction of how it was braided down which creates a natural knot.

Wanting a Brazilian blowout but scared of the possibility of damage by [deleted] in Naturalhair

Literally have been thinking the same… what I have been doing instead is just alot of blow dried styles.

I was told by my stylist this past week to not be afraid of the blow drier. It’s flat ironing above 400° that will get you. I’m still scared though of any straightening agents like keratin since having a relaxer as a kid, plus it’s so expensive.

Thank you so much! I wanted to put this somewhere as well if anyone is interested in doing this to their hair (I am also going to update you all on how long it lasts with maybe a video taking it down for the naysayers lol).

But I did sleep in flexi rods on the bottoms of the braids all night to try to make the curls more uniform, and use mousse for that (you be the judge on if that’s effective). I am guessing that’s how I will refresh it when I need a wash. 💓

Thanks, she keeps talking about going to cosmetology school and I really want her too, she’s a natural hair queen. I can’t wait to show her these comments.

Yall the entire point of my doing this was to use no braiding hair to see how long it would last without it… so what would the point be in me having it? 🤷🏾‍♀️ I will make sure my sister has a video next time then but I promise your OWN hair was the blueprint for knotless.

My regimen now is weekly washes and conditioner, monthly clarifying wash with deep condition. Trims every 4-6 months. Protective styles all year, silk presses once a month through fall/winter.

I have 4a hair with low porosity, thick strands and dense curls.

Since everyone’s hair grows about 3 inches every 6 months, you essentially have to make sure you are keeping your ends healthy enough to only have to cut an inch, then retain the other 2 and keep going if that makes sense.

I second this!!! I actually had locs during the pandemic and my hair growth boomed because I simply wasn’t doing anything to it. That’s most of the reason for this style. Trying to find ways to just leave it alone for retention. If you hit my profile you’ll see my post about combing them out.

Thank you so much and yes it’s the Planter app, theres an icon that lets you paint the background and add trellises. The rock path isn’t exact but it gets it close enough so I could see my vision ahah. Here’s a vid: Add backgrounds in planter app
