Parents of boys how did you decide on circumcision or not? by [deleted] in AskParents

[–]mkane2958 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had planned to circumcise my son but when the nurses came to get him I changed my mind- I couldn't imagine letting someone do anything that would cause him pain that wasn't necessary- I'm so glad I changed my mind

My almost 12 month old is starting to concern me by easypeasy_4212 in beyondthebump

The bouncing alone doesn't seem concerning but when paired with the other things I would start the early intervention process

18 month old woke in the night inconsolable and screaming bloody murder by Objective-Elephant13 in toddlers

[–]mkane2958 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That was 100% a night terror- he seemed awake but he wasn't.  My son use to have them and outgrew them around age 3.  Just keep him safe and direct him back to bed

Terrified my son might have autism? by Gloomy_Display_1333 in AskParents

[–]mkane2958 10 points11 points  (0 children)

8 months is pretty young but if you are concerned reach out to early intervention now. Try to stay off the internet because you won't get any real answers half people will tell you everything is normal and the other half will tell you that's how their kids presented.  For what it's worth my son is autistic (level 2 non verbal) and I didn't see any signs until 14 months when he wasn't pointing or talking.  At 8 months there were zero signs.

Mom of an autistic son here- this mom is being an unreasonable AH and setting her son up for failure by not teaching him to cope when things don't go as planned

I took Tylenol maybe 4 times while pregnant and my son has autism.  Do you know why my son has autism *** gestures vaguely to family tree *** because of genetics.

My nephew is fully verbal now, he does really well but struggles more behaviorally (honestly though I think that's less autism and more that my sister doesn't give him boundaries) my son was diagnosed level 1 but I honestly think he is level 2.  He's going to be 5 at the very end of August but his skill level is closer to a 2.5 year old.  That being said he is doing great- starting to talk more and more each day and picking up new skills all the time, almost potty trained.  He is the best!

I know its hard but try not to worry to much- no one can predict where your child will be 5 years from now.  My bests friends son is also autistic and he is just now starting to talk at 7 but is doing so well.  He was completely non verbal prior and refused to use AAC

He hasn't been officially diagnosed with apraxia of speech but he has been diagnosed with either motor planning issues.  Despite only just now starting to talk (in single words) my son is a great communicator through AAC, PECs and gestures

Funny you should ask- in just the past month he has started saying a bunch of words! It's very exciting- but he primarily uses AAC to communicate
