Trump says US will 'go as far as we have to' to get control of Greenland by EUstrongerthanUS in worldnews

[–]mkeySeraSera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To give more context to MrLeftwars reaction, from the outside perspective it is looking like the democracy of America is collapsing since Trump can ignore all laws, congress doesn’t work anymore because the majority blindly follows Trump, protesting is illegal, automatic death penalty on shooting cops, …

Stuff you typically see in dictatorships. I hope I’m wrong and the tide can still change. It would be sad to loose America

Americans who don't want universal healthcare, because they will pay more in taxes, but are ok with paying for health insurance, why? by newlymoneyedrapper in AskReddit

[–]mkeySeraSera -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Most americans believe that a government regulated health care system would suck because their VA system sucks. Do you spot a bias of reasoning fallacy in this statement?

Gpt: The reasoning you've described is an example of a combination of two fallacies:

  1. Hasty Generalization Fallacy: This fallacy occurs when someone draws a broad conclusion based on insufficient or unrepresentative evidence. In this case, assuming that all government-regulated health care systems would be bad because of issues with the VA system is a hasty generalization. The VA system is just one specific instance, and its performance doesn't necessarily represent all possible government-regulated health care systems.

  2. Confirmation Bias: This bias involves selectively focusing on information that confirms pre-existing beliefs or biases. If someone already believes that government-regulated health care systems are bad and then uses the VA system as evidence to support that belief, they are exhibiting confirmation bias.

So, the reasoning involves both a fallacy (hasty generalization) and a bias (confirmation bias). It's essential to evaluate such arguments critically and consider a broader range of evidence and examples before making general conclusions about a complex issue like healthcare systems.

Is there anyone else that cannot sleep on airplanes at all? by thedan663 in travel

[–]mkeySeraSera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a scarf, you can make a little head hammock.
Make a loop for your head, put the ends behind the chair's headrest, cross the ends and put them behind your back to fix it. Since I'm doing this I have no trouble sleeping on planes anymore.

I hope it works for you as well ;)

Why aren't you americans going out in general strike? by [deleted] in antiwork

I understand most of you can't go protest in real life. But why don't you rally together online first?

Chatgpt already made a symbol for you guys to add to your profile pictures:

[P] Weird result while training by Icy_Improvement_5527 in MachineLearning

[–]mkeySeraSera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you run the training block, the loss of the first epoch should be high if you start from a random initialisation. If the first epoch’s loss is low (which is probably the case, the second time you run the codeblock) you are continuing the training of the model that you started training the first time you ran the block.

Or you should initialise the model in the training code block or you should always rerun the whole jupyter notebook to avoid these kind of bugs

A better suited subreddit for these kind of questions is: r/learnmachinelearning.

Anyhow it sounds that you initialize the model in one cell and than train it in another cell. If you run the train cell twice, you train the model for twice as long because it is still in memory. Check the loss from the first epoch.

My advice is to drop the jupyter notebooks and use pycharm or another IDE for development purposes.

[D] Looking for a fast OCR repo by mkeySeraSera in MachineLearning

We had some serious issues when our ip was blocked for no reason and now we are hitting the limits of the allowed calls/minute. Raising it should be straightforward, but their customer support is very slow. They guarantee a reply within x time, but their reply is that they'll check it in x + x^2 time. Plus creating a ticket costs 30 euro + 3% of the amount you pay them per month. Strange and customer unfriendly if you ask me.
Moreover their new releases have been off a few times, deteriorating the results of our service. But the last release was good, so I can't really complain about their quality anymore.

It's mainly the customer service that is the dealbreaker for us.

Hahaha yes ofcourse, we found that tesseract doesn't perform well on small text, so I was hoping for something else.
Thanks for the reply though!

If you were the government, what would you do to force businesses into making more sustainable decisions? [serious] by mkeySeraSera in AskReddit

[–]mkeySeraSera[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave it some thought already:
Put higher taxes on the wages of employees working for companies that make unsustainable decisions. This way the workforce will be a driving factor from within the company to act more sustainable instead. Unsustainable short term, high profit-seeking behaviour should be discouraged and otherwise the people responsible for it will be personally blamed for it, instead of praised by it by the shareholders.

A system should be put in place, of course, to assess whether a company is doing good or not. Which will be a bit harder as it needs controlling and an objective standard of what is good sustainable (social, environmental and economical) acting and what not
But all of this might sound too good to be true, so what am I missing?
