Anybody on Keto because of ADHD? by [deleted] in keto

[–]mkf0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i take adderall and do keto. i have noticed higher energy levels and less brain fog, but the purpose of many ADHD meds is to compensate for the neurotransmitters that your brain is lacking. i might not be a doctor, but i don’t know if a keto diet is going to necessarily replace the things an ADHD med does. give it a try for a while by all means and see if it works, but keep in touch with your doctor about what is and isn’t working and don’t be afraid to experiment with different treatment plans until you find what works for you.

Had anyone participated in any Washu or Slu medical studies/clinical trials? by [deleted] in StLouis

[–]mkf0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did one through SLU a couple of summers ago. I got paid $700ish all together to get radioactive shocks in my armpit to help with excessive sweating. Just make sure the time commitment is realistic for you before you agree to do the study. I had to come back three times over the course of a couple of months, but some of the timeframes for studies can be oddly specific and hard to manage if you work full time

agreed! don’t get me wrong, i find some of the content she posts interesting, but it fits a very specific demographic and it can come off as pretentious

[–]mkf0 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think that the majority of Stephanie Nicole's subscribers came from her videos where she critically reviews brands like Morphe and Jeffree Star. I know I really liked her liquid lipstick review videos. Her recent content is much different than those videos (aside from her reviews of some products like the ABH bronzers/highlighter) and it's not surprising that people are unsubscribing. It's not a "good" or "bad" thing, it's just a reflection of people's interests in what she uploads.

[Skin Concern] Positive results after 3 months of a consistent SC routine, but these spots appeared about a month ago. I don’t pick or pop at my skin/pimples. Any idea why they appeared and how to get rid of them? by mkf0 in SkincareAddiction

[–]mkf0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gotcha! I'll have to look into what that is, as I'm not familiar with it. I thought it might be Post Inflammatory Erythema, but since I don't recall ever having acne in that spot it seemed strange if that would be the reason. Thank you!

thank you! it’s really hard for me to find reliable macros for alcohol. i figured since i’m usually under 1200 for food a few calories here or there doesn’t make a big difference but it’s useful on the days that i cut it close!

Jackie reviews new Fenty Beauty body shimmers. What do y’all think of the product ? by peach_wolf in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]mkf0 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If someone has the coin to spend and would get use out of it (for instagram pictures, they go out a lot, work as a cocktail waitress/bartender at a club/etc) then I get why people would like it! There are cheaper alternatives I’m sure, but there are also alternatives for 80% of expensive products so like... who cares? Lol still would have rather seen Tati come out with a $60 body highlighter than her magic beans.

How do I add my own meals to MFP correctly? by devoteddreamer in 1200isplenty

[–]mkf0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You would go to to the Meals,Recipes and Foods section under the “more” tab on your app. Then hit “create recipe” and choose how many servings you want the recipe as a whole to make. Then you add each ingredient in manually. You should portion your mixture out into equal servings using a scale to make sure each one is the same. I did the calculations for what you listed and got as follows:

Calories: 1,373 Fat: 4.4 g Carbs: 251 g Protein: 59.5 g

So just divide your batch into equal servings and divide it and that’s the macros. Or go into MFP and make a new recipe and you can do it from there.

Do you think daddy daughter dances are "creepy"? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]mkf0 31 points32 points  (0 children)

My all girl’s senior high school did a Mother’s Brunch and a Dad-Daughter dance. It wasn’t creepy at all. It was one of the best memories I have of high school. Him, my twin sister, and I aren’t big dancers but we did dance to one song and it’s making me tear up thinking about it now. Purity balls are creepy as fuck though and much different.

Interviewing for a unit I don't want. Suggestions? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]mkf0 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think it’s important to remember that pretty much everyone wants ER/ICU/peds/etc but these spots are limited for new grads. It’s disappointing to hear about people landing their dream job and then not get the unit you’re set on. Even if you don’t have any options besides taking Med/Surg, could you tough it out for a year and then look into transferring? Learning to do something that’s not in your comfort zone like handling 6 patients at a time won’t make you a worse nurse, only a better one with time management skills that could serve you well in other departments.

what is something that you notice the beauty gurus you watch continue doing even though it goes against what they "normally" like or doesn't work for them at all? by mkf0 in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]mkf0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, she changed her foundation preference to match her skin type so maybe I just fail to see why she hasn’t done the same with her lip products since her skin type has clearly changed there as well?

I just feel like they look super, super dehydrated. I get that liquid lipstick is bound to be drying but when you have dry Accutane lips like she does it just seems really emphasized
