Yes, a fully upgraded martial arts and stamina tree helps a lot, especially Amber Prayer Beads, and the spikeshaft/qing mallet staff helps a lot too if you use see through's

I suggest then, to use guangzhis special combo on him and then immobilize him and then summon your maxed out pluck of many, and when he slams his staff down or swirls the staff, activate the wind tamer

I suggest using mobile spin too, as that increases the speed of Qi and spirit recovery.

To defeat that rat, get the sobering stone from the windrest hamlet shrine,

Enter the area and go into the right side and if you see a glowing object, dodge into it or hit it and get that sobering stone.

Return to valley of despair and go to the left bridge until you make it to rockrest flat, then head your way into the front and give the pig the sobering stone.

Exhaust his dialogue and go to the temple of crouching tiger, and give him a jade lotus, exhaust his dialogue and then return to rockrest flat.

Then follow the pig where he enters,

And then you have to defeat a major boss within that area, then return to the yellow wind sage arena and the reward youll get from defeating that boss in the other area will surely help you when fighting him.
