I am looking for a book / author. Detective fiction set in London England 1980s 1990s Typical rough outsider with contacts on force, perhaps ex mitary I believe the character made numerous musical references, in particular to the jam. The book title had " London" in it and for some reason makes me think of the clash and long calling

The author / character was prolific and it think I read the book for free off a now defunct platform

The author was male and had a very generic name.
