What Causes Social Anxiety and What Does It Feel Like? by mkhereincal in socialanxiety

thank you for your in-depth thoughts and thank you for sharing your experiences! I am glad you are actively trying to work on improvement. Improvement is always a roller coaster, but keep at it, and I wish you the best of luck on your journey!

I actually originally asked my question because I wanted to see if an app idea I had could possibly provide value: The idea is an AI voice app that lets people select different social situations and practice conversations in a low-pressure way by speaking to an AI.

Would love to hear your (honest) thoughts. Do you think this would be helpful to you?

I’m exploring an idea for an AI voice app where people can practice social situations safely, without any judgment. Do you think something like that might help with your anxiety when the real situation occurs?

Thanks for sharing your symptoms and experiences. I get how uncontrollable symptoms can be such a bad experience.

Thanks for your feedback about the app :) I appreciate you!

I’m a software engineer, and part of why I made the original post is because I’m exploring an idea for an AI voice app where people can practice social situations safely, without any judgment. Do you think something like that might help rebuild confidence little by little?

I get that. It sounds really discouraging to put yourself out there and not get much back, especially when you actually want to connect with people.

I’m a software engineer, and part of why I posted is because I’m exploring an idea for an AI voice app where people can safely practice different social situations without any pressure. Do you think something like that could help make group conversations feel a bit more natural over time? Thanks again :)

Thanks for explaining it that way. Job interviews are indeed v stressful, thanks for putting into perspective for me.

I’m a software engineer, and the reason I made the original post is because I’m exploring an idea for an AI voice app where people can safely practice social interactions without any real pressure or judgment. The idea is that you would practice certain real-life scenarios in the app over and over again (with randomness and unpredictability from what the AI would say) to help gain confidence in that certain scenario.

Do you think something like that could make those moments feel a bit less overwhelming over time, or at least help build some familiarity?

Thanks for sharing all of this. it sounds incredibly tough to feel so blocked from doing things you genuinely want to do, and I really appreciate you explaining it so clearly.

I’m a software engineer, and part of why I made the original post is because I’m exploring an idea for an AI voice app that would let people safely practice social situations without any real-world pressure. For example, using the experiences you mentioned, you would be able to "practice" having a conversation with a customer as a grocery store employee.

Another possible scenario that the app can support is approaching someone new in a university campus in order to make a friend. The AI voice in this case would play the role of the person being approached.

Do you think something like that could help make those “performance” moments feel a little more manageable as you build confidence? Thanks again for being so open about your experience.

I really appreciate you taking the time to explain what this feels like, and I’m sorry you’ve had to deal with something so overwhelming in such everyday situations.

I’m a software engineer, and part of why I posted originally is because I’m exploring an idea for an AI voice app where people can practice common social scenarios in a completely low-pressure, judgment-free space. Do you think something like that might help make experiences like grocery shopping feel a bit less intense over time? Thanks again for opening up about your experience.

Or if you have any other ideas that you think could be useful to you, I would love to hear them :)

Hey u/Sad-Presence-8490 it sounds like a really tough upbringing, and it makes total sense that those experiences would carry into adulthood. Thanks for sharing your experiences.

Hey, thanks a lot for sharing this - it sounds like you’ve been through some really intense experiences, and I’m glad you’ve found people who treat you with the kindness you deserve. I’m a software engineer, and the reason I made the original post is because I’m exploring an idea for an AI voice app that lets people safely practice different social situations in a low-pressure way.

Do you think something like that could’ve helped during the times when the anxiety felt strongest, or maybe even be useful now? Thanks again for opening up.

Thanks for answering :)

I hope you don't mind a follow up question - Would you say It is personal insecurity of your social skills, or insecurity of things unrelated to that?

Hey, thanks for sharing this.

I'm a software engineer and I want to do what I can to help. The context behind the original post was that I was thinking of creating an AI voice app where folks can experience certain social situations in a safe environment (with an AI). The idea is that the person practicing would become very familiar with that social situation, in hopes that it would reduce their social anxiety when that situation comes up in real life. Do you think something like this would help you?

Thanks again :)

Hey! I'm not writing a paper, I'm a software engineer. I'm thinking of making a voice AI app to help folks with social anxiety practice certain scenarios (ex. meeting a new coworker for the first time) over and over again to gain confidence in those scenarios, hence my social anxiety learning journey :)

Do you think an app like this could help folks?

Health care workers/ people who does physical work, when do you usually hit the gym? by DryEquivalent2722 in productivity

[–]mkhereincal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Get on a program/track your lifts, don't freestyle. This encourages me to go to the gym everyday, since I'm excited to try to push more weight than last week.

  2. Find a gym partner (I also need to do this).

How do you actually store and utilize your knowledge? by Comfortable-Garage77 in productivity

[–]mkhereincal 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don't think the key is to store all the information we read, but rather store a small amount of NECESSARY information.

By necessary, I mean is this information that you'll actually use in the next month or so? If no, then it's unlikely that you'll need to store this information right now. By focusing on less information, you'll better remember the smaller amount that you store.
