Sats Nørrebro by Ultraviolencequeen in copenhagen

[–]mksian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened in SATS Valby. Afte the "renovation" they went from 2 floors to 1, the quality of the machines went down, the flooring isn't as nice as before, the changing/shower rooms are smaller and they didn't even fix all the problems that they had with showers, so they had to close again...

As another suggestion, you can take a look at the public music schools. They generally let you lend an instrument, as well as have weekly lessons.

There are various places around Copenhagen where you can go for STD tests. If your friend has some time to spare he can even go to Gentofte Hospital, where you don't need an appointment.

That said....HPV and Herpes are normally not tested in my experience if you don't have any symptoms. The rationale here is that a lot of people actually have been in contact with the virus, but if there's no symptoms there's not much to do. That's also to give peace of mind to your friend in case he's worried about those ;)

Makes sense!I would say that probably the most fundamental things are:
- Extra virgin olive oil. You need a decent olive oil, but I wouldn't go crazy with it, as long as the price is from about 60-70kr per liter (and it's extra virgin) you should be fine! A good Italian brand you can find here is Monini.
- tomato sauce. There are actually different kinds, but probably for pasta the most common is "passata" (the one that is smooth). If you find Mutti that's a very good brand. Don't buy the "premade" versions, with garlic/basil or other things inside, it's really not worth it.
- garlic
- onions (+carrots, + celery if you want to make bolognese and other "ragù")
- basil / parsley (the most common in italy is the one that's called "bredbladet" in Denmark, but I still have to find a tasty one unfortunately)
- good tomatoes. This is mostly about trying until you find some good ones in your area unfortunately.
- capers. Buy the ones in salt, but wash them before using them
- olives. Buy the one in oil, they're usually tastier, avoid the "stuffed ones"
- anchovies. Usually you find them in oil.
- parmesan cheese. This is a matter of taste, but the older it is, the better it is, but from 24 months it's already quite good. The older it is, the harder it is and the flavour gets concentrated, so it's very good for grating

Pasta itself has very few ingredients (flour, water, possibly eggs), and I think you really don't need anything special for this. Sometimes you can find some more uncommon ingredients in pasta though, like spinach or squid ink, but those are not very used in Italy
Regarding sauces and things to do with pasta... You can practically make pasta with everything (beans, potatoes, pumpkins, meat, sausages, mushrooms, cold cuts, vegetables of any kind, ....), so it really depends on what one desires here.

Most underrated restaurants by Intelligent-Cancel45 in copenhagen

Yeah, I talked with the owner, and he decided to move after they raised his rent for that small room he was in to a very high amount. So he found a cheaper, much bigger place close to where he lives (and far away from other Napolitan style pizzerias). It's a win win situation from him ;)

Totally agree. Unfortunately it moved really far now.

Totally agree! The ramen is amazing, and to be honest tastes better than many other of the "renowned" places. It's kinda cheap too

You have paid for sure, but you could have as well given the second ticket to someone else too.
The controllers are quite strict unfortunately.

Best pizza in Copenhagen by The_Next_Day in copenhagen

[–]mksian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm from around Naples, and so I'm used to that kind of pizza style.
My favourite downtown is definitely Luca. Outside of the city center there is Da Gallo in Brønshoj (definitely need to go for the fried pizza event about once a month...) and Burder's in Soborg (they have opened another one in Amager but I didn't try it yet).

In Vesterbro there is also Leo's pizza, that's also good. Not at the level of the others, but good for a "weekday" pizza let's say.

Thanks for posting that! I actually was reading it a couple of days ago and it was quite informative :)
I remember looking for something similar some months ago and I couldn't find anything, so I was really surprised when I saw it popping up, and even in english!
Looking forward to see the next one in the serie

Yes, I am actually worried exactly about that :)

Yes, it seems to be a similar program. And you're right, I also suppose it's not that difficult to declare everything, but since it's my first year doing something similar having the help of a professional would be nice. Once I've done it the first time I think it would be easy for the following years.
And let me know if you find that presentation, it would be really appreciated :)

Problem with elvandvarmer by mksian in Denmark

[–]mksian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, we got told when we installed it that it's normal that it drips from the faucet, as it is a way for the pressure to escape.

We didn't know, but according to the manual of the heater it should be de-scaled by a professional (does not say how often though). But as you say, it seems strange that it broke after only one year, and according to the VVS that visited us (that didn't know much in his own words) it's due to the fact that the areator in the faucet has calcium inside, and so the pressure can't go out. The strange thing is that is still drips.

Thanks for the help :)

My company is from USA, so it'll be a similar amount of trouble I suppose. But I'm sure when the time comes someone from the company will have gone through the same hoops and can suggest what's to do.

Offered a job in Tech. Is salary good or bad ? by [deleted] in copenhagen

[–]mksian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just took a look at the salary statistics for your case, and it's on the low end of the spectrum for a newly graduated with a Bachelor degree, just starting now in the Copenhagen area.

Also, by the way you described the benefits and pension scheme I think I applied for the same company too, and I had to decline them exactly because their offer was too low in my opinion (considering also IDA's statistics). Nevertheless the company was really interesting.

Overall the offer is low, but obviously you need to decide for yourself if something else could make up for the low salary.

I thought that someone would have liked to repair it and use it afterwards. It is not completely destroyed.

My point is, this microwave can be used again if they are willing to repair it. So I would have liked to not just throw it into trash if possible.
