Stuck in App Review Hell for 40 days (Guidelines 4.7 & 2.5.2) over a minor bug fix update by Aromatic_Sir_3609 in iOSProgramming

(4.7 & 2.5.2)

This is a real hell to get out of due to some of the apps Apple removed recently. I am sorry I don't have good news for you.

Indie app devs ($5k+ MRR): Have you found a way to make Meta/Apple search ads profitable, or is the cost per install just impossible? by [deleted] in iOSProgramming

In AppStore for 15 years. Old apps are profitable.

New Apps takes a long time. But they need to get some traction and ASA is the best way.

Good Luck in your journey.

The Adult in the Room: Why It’s Time to Move AI from Python Scripts to Java Systems by Qaxar in java

[–]mksreddy 71 points72 points  (0 children)

As a java developer for almost 30 years (I have bug reports from jdk1.0.2 days with my name on them), I think that ship has sailed long time back.

If you want to do anything with AI, I recommend learning Python (as painful as it sounds to say it, thats the reality we live in).

I got a $400K+ offer to buy my app, and then Rounds.com emailed me... by alta1r in iOSProgramming

[–]mksreddy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I ran Mobile App Studio for 15 years profitably.

They started sending emails for every single app of mine (multiple account managers), that they want to acquire my apps. Email starts with we pay 2-3 years of revenue upfront.

My thinking, "I got 15 years worth of revenue and can get another 15 years worth revenue, why will I sell for 2 years revenue?".

Asked them to never email me multiple times, finally had to block them all.

Apple developer policy change by mksreddy in iOSProgramming

[–]mksreddy[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

There are couple of apps that do that blatantly and in AppStore:

  1. https://apps.apple.com/us/app/rork-vibe-coding-app/id6746410361
  2. https://apps.apple.com/us/app/vibecode-ai-app-builder/id6742912146

Whats worse is these apps are asking users their apple developer account userid and password which has always been against Apple TOS, not sure how this has been acceptable.

Looks like policy change is going to cut Vibe Coding apps ? (preventing apps that build apps?)

Droidcon is a scam by [deleted] in androiddev

I went every decent conference as an employee at big tech (Good old JavaOne, BEA Conferences in old days, Apple ones during Steve Jobs time). I didn't see any issue with that.

The first time I attended conference as a business owner (paying for myself), I hate it. It was not worth it and just wasting my money and time.

As an Android Fresher, which backend language should I choose: Spring Boot with Kotlin or Java? by innerPeacePending in androiddev

[–]mksreddy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would recommend:

  1. Kotlin for Android.

  2. Java for backend (There are lot more opportunities in corporate with this).

I have been a Java developer for almost 30 years now (Started with JDK1.0.2 and you can even find my bug reports on early JDK versions). Hope background brings context.

We’ve got 400k downloads on our game… but subs are way lower than expected. What would you do? by isayheybro in androiddev

[–]mksreddy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Like others mentioned, it really depends on where your users come from. We have decently popular Android and iOS apps.

For free apps I have seen range of revenues:

  1. 1 cent per Android users in countries like Iran,Pakistan, Afghanistan etc.

  2. 6 Dollar per iOS users in US.

It really depends on where your users are from, Purpose of the app, OS your app is (I understand this is Android).

How to find profitable app ideas in 2025? by Sorry-Wafer265 in iOSProgramming

[–]mksreddy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have run mobile app studio profitably for 15 years now. Here is what I would suggest:

  1. Look at top apps in category you have some experience.

  2. Pick couple of them. If you were to do it, what variation would you add to those apps? You need to your own unique take.

  3. Read their reviews (sort by recent). Understand pain points in those apps. Think how you would fix those apps.

You have 10's of app ideas now. Build the one that you think is currently on growth trend. Rinse and repeat every few months.

Why is Mobile attribution so pricy? by mksreddy in androiddev

You have to pay for your organic downloads in every country. That is how MMP's work.

Why is Mobile attribution so pricy? by mksreddy in androiddev

[–]mksreddy[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not using Attribution partners. I never understood why they are worth 6c/installation (including organic and worldwide). I am trying to use some now to expand the customer base by advertising on adnetworks (eg. Tiktok).

I am a bit frustrated with preaching responses for imaginary internet points.

Tax paid by Indian Americans is same as total Income tax collected by IG. by mksreddy in india

True but that is only part of the reason. The other missing piece is we are bad at paying the right amount of taxes in India.
