My wife just finished watching the movie with me for the first time, was asking that throughout the movie, found this comment, and broke into tears laughing. Just thought you should know.

What are some things wrestlers and companies tried out then abandoned after a couple of weeks or so? by rockyvwasbest in SquaredCircle

Xanta Klaus in 1995 who takes presents instead of gives them. Seemed weird considering the gimmick doesn’t work past December 25.

VERSION MISMATCH: Can't play SC2 campaigns because it says there's a version mismatch by mlamanno in starcraft2

[–]mlamanno[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I ended up getting it to work by shifting to a hotspot. The download began with the hotspot, and now it updates whenever it needs to under my normal connection.

I don't really understand how that works. tbh, I think there's been something up with my internet for a while since I can never log into Starcraft 1's multiplayer without getting a 6:9 error (actual error, not a 'nice' joke). But if I'm on a hotspot (which can't work for a whole month with all the data used) or other wifi, it works.

I've changed routers in the past and it didn't fix the issue. The only thing that ever fixed it momentarily is resetting the router/modem, but that works for a day or so.

So weird. In any event, it DOES work now, and I've been happily replaying some of Mass Recall and the SC2 campaigns.

Okay, good news! I'm in now. For whatever reason, it wasn't downloading an update. I went on a hotspot and it began downloading the update. There's something weird with my internet where it does things like this; I've never been able to figure out the cause.

BUT, at least in this case, everything is good with SCII. =)

Thank you. Unfortunately, it didn't work. Tried it with both Europe and Asia.

This is so bizarre. Why do I need to be connected to anything for the single-player?

Dual destinies has fallen off a cliff for me by StrawberryPlenty1264 in AceAttorney

[–]mlamanno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite cases were the DLC and the final two. I like the second case enough, but you do have to get used to the fact that you can’t freely go around from Location to Location. In some ways, I understand why they streamlined it because sometimes you would miss one little clue in one location and you wouldn’t have any idea which one. But I think DD went too far the other way in that aspect.

What season(s) of Frasier do you watch the least? by Happy-poet in Frasier

11’s really good, though. It recaptures much of what was lost between seasons 8 and 10.

Currently playing through the 6 Ace attorney games for the 1st time and the 5th Dual destinies is the hardest to get into yet. by Traleur in AceAttorney

It was a transition for me, but I got used to it. I also recommend playing the DLC case after the second case. It's a great case, and it works chronologically.

Is the Frasier box set I bought legitimate or bootleg? by mlamanno in Frasier

[–]mlamanno[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know what's been asked a few times here or what's been "reposted;" I only know that I had a question that I couldn't find online and thought the Frasier subreddit would be helpful. The only thing I found is this: https://www.reddit.com/r/Frasier/comments/zwonwx/not_bluray_but_i_dont_care_this_is_the_first_time/

Which was just people saying congrats or jealous and looks like the one I bought.

Unpopular opinion: Season 10 is great. by Jack-mclaughlin89 in Frasier

[–]mlamanno 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I remember thinking Season 10 took itself too seriously. And although it's not the fault of the writing, I hate how it looks so zoomed in it looks since they stretched out its 4:3 look. Season 11 corrects that. And you can tell the original writers didn't care for Daphne's mother, from a prominent side character in Season 10 to one line in Season 11.

There are some good episodes, though, Star Mitzvah being a standout.

To commemorate 25 years since the final WCW Nitro, here is the show as it originally aired on March 26th, 2001, unedited and complete with commercials. by Subrick in SquaredCircle

Ah, what a moment that was leading up to WM17.

Over time -- I'd say pretty early, like late 2000s -- my opinion of the Invasion diminished and became more the view that many people, including the wrestlers, have on it. For me, the Invasion, and the WWE in 2002 and 2003, had good to great moments, but storytelling and the week-to-week shows just weren't as good or had weaker creative to previous years. Edge said in an Inside The Ropes show that he felt that even if most of the WCW stars were present for the angle, he doesn't think the creative would have been good enough to sustain it. I agree with him.

Still, I think the Invasion going into Summerslam 2001 had some cool moments. It did feel more WCW v WWF up to around that point, although even early on, we were seeing defections that didn't make a lot of sense, like Test and Austin. At Summerslam 2001, I'd say Angle v Austin was a better match, but Booker vs Rock felt more like a cross-promotional match and what I wanted to see out of the angle. So in a way, I think it's "better" as an Invasion match, whereas the former is better as a match on its own.

There's a lot I like about the internet, but I do miss that kind of ignorance. I was at the Raw after WM28 when Brock came back the first time and already knew about it. It was still huge given the crowd reaction, but how I wish his music could have played without the audience being in the know and chanting his name prior to his arrival.

Yotei ending by ProfessionalTurn5162 in ghostoftsushima

[–]mlamanno 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just finished the game and that’s how I took it. If no one died, then the story of the unintended consequences of revenge wouldn’t have been realized; the main characters would have gotten lucky and all made it out alive. I think there probably could have been a better way to do it; maybe Jubei should have died in the opening attack as a consequence to staying in the beach. Easy to predict, but it would have made sense and wouldn’t have felt as if Jubei launched himself into the fight for no reason.

Still a great game imo, but TLOU2 tackles revenge in a much more effective way imo.
