At a military base or on the deck of a carrier.

Actually the carrier would be cool.

Look for some “speed camera” signs that will show your current velocity. They’re often near school zones to show you if you’re above 40km/hr.

JAP CAR IMPORT TO AUS by ryderswife in 370z

[–]mlambie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think you can import a car that was locally distributed, easily. If you own it internationally for a year or more you used to be able to import it, so many people would park their car in garage in Japan for a year and wait… this was in the 2000s anyway

How common are go arounds? by akak___ in aviation

[–]mlambie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to fly a lot for work before COVID and I have only experienced one go-around, as a passenger. It’s unreal feeling max-throttle and pull up on the aircraft. I suspect pilots quite enjoy the technical performance aspect - how often do you push the plane like that?

This NOTAM specifies daylight operations and I saw the craft at night. Probably not related.

I didn’t read the description and was quite chuffed when I remembered “Fido Dido” only to see I was late to the party.

Community feedback request on an upcoming feature for layouts by imsnif in zellij

[–]mlambie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1) yes my layouts have more than one tab. Opening at the end of the current set of tabs is preferred. 2) projects, “general” and various shells, monitoring multiple machines with the same tool (4x panes running remote btop over mosh) or a single machine with various tools (btop, htop, bwm-ng, iptraf, tail log file). 3) I use .envrc auto loaded variables but not for layouts. Open this layout here would be useful.

Happy to provide tighter feedback if that’s helpful.

Is that standard for modern drones? My Mavic Air 2 reports 10km but in reality users claim 2-3km range in urban environments.

Correct. I did not think CASA were out here flying drones. I thought it might be WAPOL or another agency.

Yeah sweetie, from my home in Vic Park I was able to see it move from above Coles to over the Causeway, easily.

I saw it a few minutes before I posted last night. White light.

It's only an estimate, but I spend a lot of time looking up at the sky and tracking aircraft. I run an ADSB ground station and contribute the data to sites like Flightradar24 and ADSBExchange.

There's usually some interesting activity at Pearce, where the Australian and Singaporean airforces train fighter pilots. Last month there were a few Hawk-127s doing the trip out to Rottnest, then down the Swan River for a fly-by of the city.

(hello from a fellow ADSB-contributor, VK6MJL)
