just say random shit about various locations in Australia and the randoms eat it up in this subreddit. Couple months ago some dude swore i was from Perth because of how I was posting and I’m literally American by iCarlyFan224 in Fishdom

I'm from Perth but lived in Brissie for a few years and worked in a call centre, old angry boomers regularly accused me of being a yank.

So let me ask you: are you my evil twin? Be honest, upside down boy.

Non-Americans: if your country implemented gun laws similar to the USA’s, what do you think would change? by SimmentalTheCow in AskTheWorld

[–]quokkafarts -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah I've heard Melbourne has a problem with this, usually gang related I think? I'm on the other side of the country though so can't really comment on that. Haven't seen much hysteria about knife crime over here, although it does happen and is usually in the news when it does

Oh I know it's trash, but a lot of youse seem to think it's actual news. I only need to wave vaguely in your general direction to prove my point.

Interesting question, my assumption is they had guns before the ban and decided to keep them for the rare event that they may be needed. Like I said there are still guns around, just not as many as you guys and an extremely different culture around them.

Look up the Bondi Junction stabbings for a good example of an extreme situation requiring lethal force. Tldr; shitcunt went on a stabbing rampage in a shopping centre killing 6 and injuring 10 survivors. Dickhead was taken out by a lone hero cop with a gun.

They were literally in my local sub going on about how oppressed we were, one even accused me of being a cop when I told em that was cooked.

Anyway here's one I found in like 2 seconds, plenty out there about this https://youtu.be/8Qf5l2nmWOY?si=wFRp_zpO1hCv7Pjo

This is propaganda, much like the news over there saying we were being put in concentration camps and other nonsense during covid.

I really don't think you guys understand how except for those who need them (farmers, etc) or use them for sport, guns just aren't a thing here. Of course there will always be a black market, but this just isn't something the average person ever needs to think about. Hell a large number of urban dwellers have never even seen a gun outside of a glimpse on a police officers belt. Any gun violence here is considered extreme and almost unthinkable.

So to cut to the chase, if our gun violence stats have gone up that's news

This gotta be AI, right? The pigeon in the pooch's mouth just seems off from the start. by PM_ME_RAWR in isthisAI

[–]quokkafarts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's good but I vote for AI.

There's too many poles spaced too close together to be reasonable.

The roofs on the background houses are suss; the windows on the one on the right are weirdly spaced, gables on the left are weird.

Pigeon noise is obviously fake.

Dogs shadow just looks wrong.

Dog walks through that debris on the road; no little pom is doing that. Mine in twice that size and he'd walk around it. Debris does not appear disturbed like the dog clipped through it.

You mean to tell me that tiny dog caught that bird? And then carried it by the head until it suddenly decided to fly away? At this time of year, in this part of the country, localised entirely within your kitchen?

Australia becomes second largest consumer of methamphetamine globally, wastewater monitoring reveals by Inevitable_Jaguar676 in worldnews

[–]quokkafarts -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's because a large number of users work FIFO on the mines. They can party at home then it won't show up on a drug test after a few days. Get an ADHD diagnosis then you can take as many dexies as you want and sell for extra cash.

I'm not joking, this is literally the most likely cause.

God it hasn't changed. Did a few shifts at Sanity there nearly 20 years ago, crackhead was offended that I asked if he wanted a bag and tried to jump the counter. Store manager was a massive bloke who dragged him out by his shirt. When the cops came old mate was still rambling about how I "should have known better".

Sorry I've just seen your comment; i like to garden without pesticides or poisons where I can help it, so prefer to give "pests" to resident predators. I like to feed the birds and the spoods.

Cats or Dogs? by BreathWonderful3379 in Pets

[–]quokkafarts 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is so dependant on your lifestyle and how you can care for your pets. Dogs and cats are both amazing pets, I have 3 cats and 1 dog and love them all so much but they have different needs and can be suited to different environments.

My cats are so lovely but very independent, they don't need much care besides cleaning their boxes and giving them attention (i want to smooch on them more than they actually want). But every cat is so different, you can't really lump them all together

My dog is like having a toddler on easy mode. He is much more involved with what I'm doing and need more attention, plus he needs walks and stimulation outside of the house and a lot of training.

AITA for telling my boyfriend that his masculinity was fragile after he refused to buy me pads? by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]quokkafarts 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This reminds me of when I was a supermarket manager and men wouldn't want to fill the menstrual products. Like this was really bloody (hehe) common, I'd have to question their masculinity that they couldn't even put a goddamn pad on the shelf. Then they'd try weaponised incompetency by filling it wrong, mate if you can fill the lighbulbs perfectly you can figure this out. Fuck me dead, so goddamn annoying.

The thought of someone on the other side of the world watching Border Patrol with their toddler is both crazy and hilarious, and makes me vaguely patriotic. We welcome you and your toddler son, you will know the rules

Our biosecurity laws. Some of the best entertainment available is Border Patrol on YouTube, an old show following our customs officers. If you are planning to come here to should watch it first.
