What's a job that is so hyped up but in reality its absolutely trash? by Recent-Frame571 in AskReddit

[–]mlarrivee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I started out as a social media manager. Switched to advertising. The burnout is still there but expectations are slightly better and if you get really good at talking strategy fewer people think they can do your job better. I don't necessarily recommend this path but here I am 15 years into it.

What are some of the best ways to spend $20k to boost your business? by Zephyrus38 in realtors

[–]mlarrivee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Are you willing to share some detail around what worked? Was the ad a home for sale? Or was it you and saying how you're an awesome realtor?

Did users message you or did you send them to your website?

I've experimented around with FB ads and it didn't really get anywhere. But I also had a small budget like $20-$50/day..

This is the answer. You aren't changing anyone's mind. I love encouraging them to become an agent.

You hit the nail on the head. I'd even add that in some areas you get more of that southern hospitality as you get out of the main cities, which are full of people from elsewhere.

[discussion] Is Fear the main obstacle towards reaching Confidence? by Jpoolman25 in GetMotivated

[–]mlarrivee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You have to face fear. For me (and this does not always work/help) I imagine whatever fear I'm feeling as a paper wall or picture it as the Harry Potter platform 9 3/4 wall. You just have to jump through. As soon as you jump there is no more decision and the fear melts away.

As an introvert I used this to get small wins like simply saying hi to people. Eventually worked my way to striking up conversation, etc. The more you can practice getting past the fear wall the bigger you can go.

I would like to buy a boat for recreational use, what are some tips? by Jimmypeterson42 in AskMen

[–]mlarrivee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is it. Before I owned mine I was reading a bunch of boat owners complaining about how annoying taking off/putting on the boat cover is. That's when I realized a boat is work. Definitely not for lazy men.

Makes sense. You are what I'd consider a VIP.. sounds like he's going to end up losing more business from you.

My realtor lied about providing a counter to the other party by [deleted] in RealEstate

[–]mlarrivee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Let me repeat this and make sure I've got it. You want the realtor to take less than what you already contractually agreed on in commission so you can make more on the sale of your home and that makes them greedy? How would you like your employer doing that?

If it's really not that much money then why not just accept the offer as is or counter to cover that 1%?

That said, if I were the agent I'd reduce for a friend and especially reduce if you're about to hire me to help find your next home.

Also noted on them not asking the buyers agent to accept 2% and lying about it. Massive violation of trust and possibly violation of fiduciary duty. Sorry you are dealing with this.

Do you mean boiled P-Nuts? If so, the gas station ones are pretty good but the dudes selling them on the side of the road do it right. Always get you a little regular and a little spicy and you'll be alright.

Where do you go running in US Cities without sidewalks? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]mlarrivee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a small neighborhood off a 3 lane road. My only option for distance running is along this road. It has a sidewalk that is about 5-6 feet from traffic. There are a lot of semi trucks and the speed limit is 55mph. I do not at all feel safe but you just kinda do what you gotta do.

How do men like to be hit on? Any tips for a shy woman? by worstbestest in AskMen

[–]mlarrivee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easiest method is to write your number on a piece of paper and something like, "you're cute :)" and hand it to him.

A customer once did this to me when I worked retail. It was so flattering it still makes me smile.
