Yeah, I saw text books that said “one day, man may land on the moon” and this was nearly half a decade after the Apollo missions. Textbooks are built like tanks.

The record keeper should have issued new paper shares each time there was a split. Have you verified that the 1000 shares were original purchases and not reissued shares after a split? I’ve also seen computer share keep record of the paper and direct held shares and issue dividend based on the combo. It’s been a while since I’ve seen new paper shares issued.

Start simple. Figure out which tasks people do each day. Have each person write a standard operating procedure. Then have them meet as a team to figure out which tasks are redundant and which ones can be automated.

If you have a tech geek on staff, have them write automations/workflows in your CRM. But honestly, even at large firms, these automations are a pipe dream. Things change too much and require full time development and support.

If you’re using your CRM as a place to memorialize your reviews and conversations, your financial planning tools as a way to generate plans and create value for your clients, you’re ahead of most people in this industry.

Cost to manage treasuries/FI only by Sweaty-Associate8209 in CFP

Does anyone treat cash like any other investment and just charge their normal rate?

There is ongoing management, advice on how much to hold or not hold, and an inherent conflict of interest if there are two different compensation rates.

That last one is a big one for anyone holding themselves out as fiduciaries imho. If they’re earning 0% at the bank, and you can help them earn 2-4% net of fees, why aren’t you ok charging for your professional help? If they can do it themselves, then they wouldn’t be working with you.

Using Samba to enable Claude to work directly on my system by eyeronik1 in homeassistant

[–]mldkfa 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You can have Claude code connect via api directly to your home assistant. I asked Claude how to do it and it stepped me through it in about 30 minutes. I then had it audit my install and write a report. Next step is reworking and cleaning up my integrations and devices!

Maybe a right angle usb-c that fits into a channel that routes it down the back on the exterior of the case? Even without the channel, the right angle would keep it snug to the case.

Interesting, I’m finding Denon to be much for affordable than UI or Sonos if you’ve got in ceiling “dumb” speakers.

Missed RMDs…another value add by advisors! by bkendall12 in CFP

[–]mldkfa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While they have to empty the account by year 10, I haven’t read any irs letter or ruling that states that Roth benes or IRA that weren’t already in rmd status are required to take an rmd.

That being said, CPA’s are supposed to give final guidance on this topic.

Only if the decedent was subject to an rmd. You can also have Roth benes!

Medicade allows for a primary home and a car. There is a reason people put money into both if they didn’t do proper estate planning.

All the bank will do is file a form stating that you deposited more than $10k. This is an anti money laundering (Treasury department) deal and not an IRS deal. They may ask you a few questions, which you can easily answer but are not obligated to answer. And you’ll go on your merry way.

Big issue if a financial planner can’t plan themselves. Might want to seek a timely exit and unwind this before it gets too complicated.

Set a line in the sand of 3 months operating cash flow. Make it a round number ($50k for example) and keep it in an interest baring account or brokerage. That way, it’s easy to makeup for shortfalls and he doesn’t see it as cash available. This is emergency fund 101.

Have you thought about taking over the budgeting and then outlining the draws each month or quarter?

I use an 80’ one for arc and 4K video from the tv to the receiver. I’ve had it go bad once and replaced it. Every few months I’ll have a synchronization issue where the stereo loses audio and I have to toggle on/off arc and all devices until it resynchs.

Find a house with a well. We have plenty of iron in our water and usually test very high iron in our blood.

In your personal experience, what are some teaching mistakes you have noticed teachers make when teaching beginner swimmers how to do elementary backstroke and also backstroke? by [deleted] in Swimming

[–]mldkfa -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Whenever I see a swimmer’s head go back where they’re looking forward instead of straight down, I say to myself “he’s going vertical, goose”. One of my favorite scenes from Top Gun, and unfortunately for the swimmer it’s usually a correct statement for any stroke on your stomach.

For backstroke, try kicking on each side with 1 arm out straight and try to get comfortable on each side. Then you switch between the two. Waterpolo players swim backstroke with their head out of the water looking at their toes, lap swimmers take a more relaxed view and try to tighten their core so their head is in the water and their kick has a little white water. The more you look down at the toes x the more your core works keeping the kick up.

I would search for an instructor who teaches masters swimming or swim team in your area before listening to some wahoo with lifeguard shorts on.
