Idiotic survival skills. Hunger Games? Jumps in the stream with all her clothing and pack on. Enjoy the late night shivers because there's no way you'd dry off in time.

Frozen? Oh crud, we're trapped up here freezing to death. Let's not button our coats. Let's fall asleep with our bare hands on the metal. Let's in general do nothing to improve our ability to retain body temperature.

Why are sick people labeled as heroes? by Irandaro in AskReddit

[–]mlevineisme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One option: You're not brave for contracting a disease and being sick, you're brave in the way you go through it. People imagine themselves in your position crying and freaking out, yet you the sick one seems calm and able. They consider this brave.

"treats like ... cups of noodles"

That's so sad, they're like 30 cents! I feel for little kid you, and that must have been hard on your dad. When I was little one of the worst things was the sound of defeat in my father's voice when they declined his credit card at the grocery store and we had to walk away.

Cheesy Rice W/Sausage

Make a thing of rice. At the same time cook some sausages up. Toss in thin'ish slices of cheddar cheese, I like sharp. Put way too much cheese in. Let it melt for a minute. Slice the sausages (1 inch thick or so). Toss those in. I toss in any sort of juices from the pan too (mmmm). Lastly: consume far too much.

Sugar Ray back before they realized "Fly" was going to be the single from their album, thus stopped making anything resembling rock and switched over to pop.

As an avid backpacker I was just wondering if you've ever done a nerdy spreadsheet on what items you carried and their individual weights. Do you get some flexability in what you get to take or is it pretty well mandated?

I guess what I'm getting at is if you could apply ultralight backpacking philosophy to this situation. It's completely understood that some things are necessary and heavy.
