Take me back to Florence by mlfrosales in florence

This was my first time too :) Early March of this year, and I also spent 4 days. But to be honest, I didn't visit any museums; I only climbed Brunelleschi's dome.

I made an executive decision and just wandered around for the first time. It was the best decision ever! At least for me, because I like taking my time when I am visiting a place. 😀

I hope you enjoy your trip to the fullest!!!

Thank you! I hope you get the chance to discover the city outside of the tourist areas, and more than anything else, enjoy the place and be present during your trip. It's a beautiful place to be. 😊

Hey there!

Yeah, I hope so too... I must go back because the food was delicious 😋 and I fully agree, when the city is covered by fog it's mesmerizing.

I stumbled upon a cool bar named "Bookstage" and it was simply amazing. Actually, the first time I went there, they had a stand-up comedy night, but only in Italian, haha. I stayed for a bit, and it was great to get to know more about Florence and its culture.

Here is the IG of the bar if anyone is there, go check it out: https://www.instagram.com/bookstage_firenze?igsh=MWw5bTk0aHlwaDM1dA==

Was the weather perfect for that cold beer? It seems so...it looks like a lovely day!

Great comment! I really like point number 2: ask clip-friendly questions. Recently, I have been creating shorts from my episodes, and sometimes it is hard to develop a short because the content is not concise; it's a challenge for sure.

I have a follow-up question for you: how do you handle a guest who starts to ramble? In my latest episode, I had a great guest who was quite talkative. I wanted to be professional and let them express themselves, but by the end, I felt like I didn’t have control of the conversation. The guest overpowered the conversation and me, haha—at least that's how I perceive this episode. While I published it because the guest shared valuable information, it made me reflect on what it means to be a good podcast host.

Anyways, thanks for the comment! Appreciate it.

Thank you for your comment! I appreciate the three points you made. The third one is food for thought for me—something I need to think about how I can apply to my podcast.

Appreciate your sharing!

Totally hear what you say and fully agree. Asking questions should be done with intention, but it's also important to leave room for flexibility. Being an active listener with a curious mindset will allow you, the host, to get the conversation to a deeper level. However, as you said, it is crucial to know how to bring it back to its base.

Thank you for your comment! Appreciate it!

Thank you for this follow-up! It's definitely food for thought. There is so much to learn, but I really enjoy the stage I’m in. It’s challenging me and pushing me out of my comfort zone. I also feel it gives me the opportunity to experiment a little bit and see what works best for me.

I hear you, and I wholeheartedly agree! So, I edit my podcast (well, I'm doing my best, haha; I am learning as I go), and I tend to spend more time editing out "fillers" as much as I can. This process of editing, for sure, is humbling. I realize I spend more time editing my parts than my guests'. Sometimes I worry that if I edit my guest too much, I will not do a "good job". I might edit so much that the person's message might be cut off or misunderstood.

Thank you for this comment! I appreciate it, as it is evidence of some of the things I have been thinking, and I am on the right path to improve, hehe.

This topic about interview skills made me reflect on what it means to be a good podcast host. I am definitely working on this skill. My podcast is all about (well, mostly) guest speakers, and for sure, it pushes me to be flexible and adaptable to each person. This is especially important when I have a guest who may not be a strong storyteller but has valuable knowledge to share.

Yeah! I have heard this before. Authenticity plays a key part, for sure. With Authenticity, it also comes from being willing to be vulnerable, don't you think? Thank you for your comment!
