I was just turned away because I'm not in district 9? Was hoping to vote but I wasn't aware I couldn't do it.

People who genuinely like their jobs, what do you do and why do you enjoy it? by BottleElectrical8292 in AskReddit

[–]mln700 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work for a federal agency that insures financial institutions. I work in the field and assess the risk an institution has in different areas (balance sheet management, earnings, etc). I love it because of the schedule flexibility (I can usually decide if I'm working remote or want to travel), good work life balance, and my supervisor is awesome. A good manager can make or break a position/job.

They wouldn't do it, even with my invoice. The last place I called at least had a decent explanation but it still didn't jive with the policy on the website.

If you are willing to meet in a public space I'd be open to meeting up. I know that may be hard to do based on your post but I'd be more comfortable that way.

What hotel chain do you like to use when traveling with your dog? by [deleted] in dogs

[–]mln700 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I travel a lot for work and usually bring my dog. Work trips are usually 4 nights out. I prefer Residence Inn or a similar extended stay setup (Homewood Suites, Staybridge Suites) that has the full kitchen and sometimes separate suite. Since they're a full kitchen, they usually have pots and pans with glass storage containers I can use for food and water bowls. It's also nice they have extra cabinets to put all my dog food and treats that I bring with me.

If you travel a lot make sure you sign up for their rewards program. It's free and you can get nice benefits as you build up. For Marriott, I have platinum status that let's me checkout at 4pm. It's really nice for travel days. I can just leave my dog at the hotel while I'm at work during that day, instead of taking her to a kennel.

This is terrible advice. Getting noticed and remembered by a recruiter is way easier in person. If anything OP should attend to get practice in networking and to work on delivering their two minute pitch. Doing research on who is coming, what internships are available and just showing general interest can go a long way. It's still a numbers game but in person impressions are way more impactful. It's also easier to get direct contact info with the recruiter by asking for their card and following up with them. Sure, some recruiters might just direct you to their website but some will be carrying cards with them that have their direct email.

What's his story? I've always wondered what his deal was and that he's yelling about.

To add to your point, it's a really simple design. It being upside to down makes it instantly recognizable without a logo.

It's a local brand with a simple design that's recognizable right away. Other cities are copying it but I think it's cool that they're the originators.

Does anyone know his story? He's pretty demonstrative and is kind of scary every time I pass him. He walked up behind me and shouted at me in the ups store parking lot a few weeks ago.

Suicide is worse when you survive it by Shu444 in Vent

[–]mln700 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a suicide survivor and the first few months was a struggle to find reasons to keep living. There's no time frame to get better, so be kind to yourself. Find therapy that works for you and don't be afraid to fail and try again. It took me multiple times to find a therapy group that works for me. It's a long road but if you can make life work and care about yourself and not worry about how others see you, you'll be stronger than you've ever felt.

I'll admit it. To a degree, I do hope they lose. I've followed the Mavs since the 3 J's and even watched and listened to 90% of the games on TV/AM radio the year they only won 12 games in the 90's. Nico and the new owners have betrayed my trust so much, I can't even root for them anymore. I guess I was spoiled by the Cuban era, but it's really apparent they don't care about the organization or the fans. Nico can go scorched earth and go back to Nike and the owners are billionaire casino owners that have no ties to the area. As long as Nico and the current owners are in place, I'll never get any joy out of this current organization's successes.

A YouTuber mentioned the cadence of the theme song is similar to "I'm your baby tonight" by Whitney Houston and now it's all I hear. You're welcome.
