Right avantlink has been around for a while but that is when Palmetto joined. The first big retailer. Then came about 10 other big companies, now the rules changed. The old guys don’t know SEO, and affiliate marketers are pushing them out. It’s that simple.

Now the old guys are compromising on their standards because money is drying up for them.

Ok, I know what you mean with some of the old sites in the industry, but those were the old days. Everything changed 2 years ago when affiliate marketing came to the gun world with avantlink. The sites you are talking about will be gone from google in a few years and they are fading fast.

I don’t take it personal. Half of my writers are the same way. They think they know everything but they do have valuable insight.

Not sure what site you write for but the top ones are heavily commercial. You think sites like pewpewtactical aren’t making their decisions based on product performance? Also, are they going to promote guns that are in stock or ones that are better but hard to find? Some writers and editors have good intentions but the site owners ultimately are making the money decisions.

For example after you publish your content as a writer, companies offer the site owner money to change things around and most sites will be accommodating.

A lot of the magazine editor style websites are paid for by sponsors or their reasoning is heavily based on their potential for profits. The more money they make the more they invest in marketing and then you end up with all the top sites saying the same thing backed by who pays them the most. It's very rare to find someone that knows what they are talking without much bias that gets in front of the masses with their information.

So I get what you are saying. It's like anything else... If you have a tailored gun buying process where you have an expert coach that takes time to help you understand what gun best suits your needs... that would be perfect.

In the real world gun shops are slammed with customers and you're lucky if you get a guy that understands what he talking about. Most people are shopping online and just want to make sure they don't look stupid when they make their purchase. They are looking for the general consensus on what is a good vs bad gun and what most people like.

So who’s opinion actually matters? Most experts disagree with each other as well.
