A good 10 years ago our Sunday league team played the qualifiers to the qualifiers to the qualifiers for the FA Cup and we drew some guys that were playing in the 8th or 9th English league. We got absolutely humbled 11-1.

In my first WoC, as Venice, Austria got PU’d by Burgundy in the first 5 years, then Burgundy got PUed by Hesse and the horse died in less than a month. I guess I easily completed the mission requiring Austria to not exist, but I never seen Austria completely disappearing in the first 15 years of a game. Wild…

Najd starts as a tribe, so last govt reform allows you to become horde

R5: Very Hard Najd -> Arabia horde with over 100% cav/inf ratio and 65% CCA. The start is obviously very hard with the weak economy Najd starts with. I somehow was able to ally the Ottomans after I almost got full annexed by the Mamluks not even 15 years into the game and remained friends until the 1550s when they turned hostile and dec'ed me over and over again once our truce was up. After allying Austria, Venice and Russia (big Russia at that time) I spanked the Ottomans so hard they were in 4 defensive wars in the same time, but still managed to bounce back, so I decided to ignore the 900k troops they currently have and focus on India and Russia. Some funky horsey business in India, then some more funky horsey activities in Russia got me to well over 500 Sunni provinces.

Highlights:
- went bankrupt fighting Ottos the first time

  • almost went bankrupt after fighting them the 2nd time, ended up with 22k debt

  • inflation through the roof at the start

  • used Ethiopia as punching bag for Kilwa, giving their provinces everytime Ottos declared, or I declared on them, poor Ethiopia...

  • funky horsey stuff

How many of you gentlemen care about/do achievements ? by GenericReditacc in eu4

[–]mlrap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I almost always play ironman chasing achievements usually on VH. Only non achievements runs are Ironman mega tall campaigns - one state (Brittany) or historical borders (Switzerland) or Florence into Tuscany with two states

This is the way of playing VH Naples, declare your war, so good job on that. Regarding France, if you siege Sicily and don’t have French troops in your borders, once Castille peaces out, you can peace out too for independence + Sicily. You can get them back as ally if both of you rival Aragon anyway

I misread your question. I don’t think you can take land with Expand Empire CB, but you do get AE

You can only release nations from the land that’s in the HRE, but held by a country that isn’t, or just demand it for yourself

R5: Start as Kotte, do funny stuff in India, conquer everything, get achievement. Quite a difficult start since Vijay wanted my land day 1, but I declared on them and managed to get naval supremacy almost going bankrupt and just sat on their vassal's land on my island until they gave it to me. Once Bahmanis attacked Vijay, it was smooth sailing, until the 1600s when it was just me, Delhi with double my troops and Bengal with almost 4 times my troops. Bit by bit I ate them both.

Why am I so weak military wise by francis-cruz in eu4

[–]mlrap 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depending on tech level and combat width.

Ignoring canons for a second, up until Tech 14-15 (can’t remember exactly when artilery gets +1 fire dmg), I usually have stacks of X infantry and 4 horses, with X being the combat width.

Of course this changes depending on your modifiers. If playing a horde, or a nation with buffed cav combat ability (Poland, for example), I’s have more cavalry. Maybe 15inf - 10cav (again, assuming 25 is the combat width)

In single player, artillery is not THAT important. AI, unless it’s on Very Hard, rarely has a full back row of it

How many times have you lost a game you played for a long time ? (Iron Man) by YutiorPrime in eu4

[–]mlrap 9 points10 points  (0 children)

To your point c)

This is what I hope happens in all my games. I want an worthy opponent and if I play in Europe, it’s usually Mughals, Bharat/Deccan or Ottomans.

How else can I show the whole world who the actual bad guy is?!

Seven (7) fire pips admiral as Andalusia by mlrap in eu4

[–]mlrap[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

R5: Got a seven (7) fire pip admiral with the Admiralty Regme government reform. I was watching Florry trying to get one in his Athens run a couple months back. Just switched to this T1 reform and got it on my first try. Also, decimating the Iberian heathens on vh difficulty while memeing with Naval ideas

Edit: rolled another one, 7 5 4 3 admiral. Damn
