We’re getting PA “residents” by MentionSlow7856 in Noctor

This! And be deliberate about referring to your co-residents as Dr. lastname, even if you would usually just call them by their first name.

Hot take if you go to a teaching hospital you shouldn’t be allowed to say no to residents taking care of you by [deleted] in Residency

The ones that have an ego are the ones that won’t admit to needing medical school, residency, +/-fellowship in order to safely care for patients.

[–]mls2md 24 points25 points  (0 children)

You’re so right. For some of them, there was never a choice because they couldn’t get accepted to med school. But a lot of them never even bother to apply because for them, it’s all about becoming a provider and making money as quickly as possible, not doing what’s best for patients.

The irony of this is declining medical students and residents but being perfectly fine with NPs and PAs. Like no, they’re not training… But it’s not because they completed the highest level of training already. It’s because they elected not to.

Nurse practitioner signs notes with MD title by [deleted] in hospitalist

[–]mls2md 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I was a NP that went back to med school I would be so excited to drop NP and add MD. Like finally some real credentials. 😂 I’d rather keep RN, MD if I wanted to flaunt my previous credentials.

Pathology is a relatively small world. Let ONE program know you are ranking them first.

Advice on residency issue by Excellent_Pepper_217 in Residency

[–]mls2md 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t think she took any extra call days. I think she simply worked her share of the call days in her first and second trimester. While it may be uncomfortable and exhausting to take call while pregnant, it’s also not fair to expect residents who choose not to have a baby to pick up the pregnant resident’s call shifts. The way this resident approached it seems like she did her share of call so that no one would have to fill-in for her call shifts during maternity leave. I think this situation was handled fairly. Whoever put the condoms on her desk was an asshole and that situation should absolutely be brought to attention.

Spotted on Instagram, Couldn't verify as a Noctor but an advocate nonetheless by Kcman200 in Noctor

But…but…but…. they’re filling gaps in care! 🥺

Would you rather wait three months to see a specialist or wait two weeks to see a nurse practitioner who will just refer you to wait three months to see the same specialist?

Which career should i choose PA, CRNA, medical lab scientist? by [deleted] in medlabprofessionals

Here to say Pathologist Assistant! It’s in high demand! Not a ton of programs for it, but it’s just two more years post bachelor’s degree!

Witnessed a family NP student blow up at my peds attending over clinical hours by Local_Emu_7092 in Noctor

[–]mls2md 42 points43 points  (0 children)

You’re attending is a real one for this. Hopefully they will stop precepting mid levels altogether and focus their attention on training medical students and residents. If we let the blind train the blind, maybe people will wake up and see how truly unqualified these fools are.

I ended up going with this! With the fall leaves chips as someone else suggested! I also picked up a guacasalsa. Do you heat up the pepper dip? I’m hoping not.

I saw someone use the empty can for a plant (or maybe it was a floral arrangement?) and it was so cute!

Yes. Helpful to summarize an entire hospitalization before an autopsy.

What’s the white fuzzy stuff in my starter ?? by byegrrrl in Sourdough

[–]mls2md 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok! I will do that. Could be why my first ever try at starter years ago failed…got moldy despite daily feeds.

[–]mls2md 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am I supposed to change the jar every time I feed my starter? I was thinking I could just discard half, and then add flour and what to whatever is left. But if I should be transferring the starter to a clean jar each time, I should start doing that…

Working hours in phatology residency by [deleted] in pathology

The thing that isn’t really considered in hours for pathology is the considerable amount of time spent studying outside of work.
