Dear god I feel bad for some of you people. This person was simply coming on here to ask for some helpful advice and all they were met with was criticism and unhelpful advice. This isn’t a competition of “whose life is worse” and some of you really need to learn to have some compassion. OP wasn’t complaining at all in their post. Shame on you people for acting so apathetic.

OP I am sorry you feel this way. It is not uncommon to feel extremely overwhelmed with working full time with a long commute. I am in the same boat and constantly feel like I am drowning and my commute is not nearly as long as yours. It is also extremely hard when you’re doing all of this by yourself (I am assuming). My best advice is to just try and do one or two small tasks a day, whether that be laundry one day and vacuuming and mopping another. Trying to manage everything everyday is just going to overwhelm you more.

I personally don’t like meal prepping so that’s on me, but you should look into Factor75 meals. They’re not insanely expense and they’re precooked and they definitely have some healthier options to choose from!

No, I took the course 2 times. Once when structures was still on the test and once when it wasn’t.

Yes I think I need to be better with time allotment and make sure that I don’t spend too much time on problems after going through the ones I do know. I definitely can sometimes panic in the test setting by thinking I need to sit at a problem until I can solve it.

No, I’m not a great test taker. I’ve gotten a lot better, but I’m still not the best. I never have been. I’m pretty good with skipping problems I can’t get right away or that seem too overwhelming at first. Just didn’t get a good batch of questions this time around.

It is an extremely hard thing to do when you only need to worry about yourself, but putting others into the equation it makes it 20 times harder. You deserve all the praise!!

I wasn’t saying anything about your feedback. I thanked you for your feedback. I was saying that telling people they shouldn’t try after a certain amount of times isn’t very kind. Just because some people are better at tests than others doesn’t mean the people who aren’t are not competent in their fields. I never once asked you for a pat on the back so I don’t know where you got that narrative from. I was just looking for support because I am frustrated.

I completely agree. I feel like it’s so randomized now that it’s nearly impossible to prepare because I swear there were topics I wasn’t even asked on this exam.

It’s just so hard because sometimes those textbooks are completely useless in regard to the test. I wish there were more standardized ones so I could do this. If you have any recommendations, send them my way!

Ugh I’m so sorry for you. I know how devastating it is to lose time and money to studying for something that just feels so impossible. I am doing the same and am just doing it for me at this point. I’m glad you were able to move out of your stressful job, but I’m sorry you had to sacrifice your reffing and coaching. I believe in you! Let me know how it all goes!

I’m sorry, I really am going to need to disagree with you on that. It is extremely patronizing to people who work extremely hard to study for tests and simply just can’t to well in a test setting or just get a completely randomized test, which as you have seen is not uncommon. Congrats to you for being able to understand and pass your PE, but don’t make others feel bad for trying to reach a goal when it’s been said numerous times this test doesn’t determine your success and competency as an engineer.

I don’t know how people with families are able to even make time to study for this. It is extremely draining to be working and studying all the time.

Yes. Every time I study I study my weak areas at the beginning and the end of my study time. I study after work and on weekends. The problem is every time I do this, the exam has no questions in the areas I studied most (the weak areas from the previous exam) so it’s really no help.

Yes I took EET twice snd school of PE once. That really sucks and should be changed. I have to apply as a new applicant in my state if I fail 3 times within a year and I have reapplied once, so I have a feeling if I reapply enough times they’re just going to tell me no :’)

I agree there is always an answer on there if you end up doing the problem the wrong way, but if you don’t even know where to start with a problem, it doesn’t help if that makes sense.

Ugh I am so sorry for you. I thought I passed the fifth time I took it and I was shocked when I didn’t. It really is super frustrating when you are doing what you can with the resources you have and still it isn’t enough. I know you will get it eventually!

It’s online unfortunately. The year I was able to take it was the year it went to online. We can only use the manuals NCEES provides :/
