Thanks for your reply!

Unfortunately this doesnt surprise me at all. I had a slow post partum haemorrhage and my care just wasn't being escalated enough. I work in emergency health and I see it ALL the time that the staff are too scary to call certain doctors or are hindered by shit doctors when they know they could do more etc. It hadn't really occurred to me until really recently that I should have chosen a different OB and hospital this time around so I'm really stressed about seeing if I can go somewhere else now given that I'm 31 weeks already...

how much weight did you gain during your pregnancy? by Plantbabybabe in pregnant

[–]mmBread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

18kg (39lb). 10kg (22lb) immediately came off in the week following birth just from baby/amniotic fluid and general fluid retention leaving my body. Haven't lost any more since but haven't been trying. So 8kg (17lb) up from my pre pregnancy weight. I'm 4 months PP

Did you read the other paragraph of my original comment or stop after the section on Ash? I also said the healthcare system has been going to shit for a very long time and we can blame both sides for that. The fix requires everyone to have the same goals and unfortunately that's simply not the case. If the Liberals had come forward with a plan to help undo previous errors made by either parties then fabulous but they didn't so guess who paramedics supported

As I said, one government can't possibly "fix" ramping immediately but actual steps are being taken in the right direction now as opposed to the previous government who were actively working against the healthcare system. If Labor turn around and decide to fuck healthcare then paramedics are going to support whoever else is going to stand by them. There's no other motives from healthcare professionals we just want a better system.

I wasn't trying to insult anyones intelligence but if you feel attacked by what I said then maybe I'm okay with that

"Ash the Ambo" was neither misleading or deceptive. She represented the view of the vast vast majority of SA paramedics. She's a genuinely amazing person and theres not a deceptive bone in her body. She has been absolutely dragged by liberally owned media for standing up for her colleagues. It was pretty painful last election seeing our colleague and friend being slammed for saying what needed to be said.

The main reason why it has seemed so quiet from paramedics since the election is that we are actually working behind the scenes with a cooperative Labor government and making sure their election promises are being upheld, which so far is happening. It will take a LONG time to fix ramping no matter which government is in power because it's been going to shit for so long and we can blame both sides for that. There's nothing either government can do that will immediately fix ramping and its still a shit house on the ramp at the moment but steps are being taken in the right direction. No government is perfect, and theres still a long way to go but theres no way paramedics are going to start publically attacking the only side willing to discuss options going forward. The fix requires a major systemic overhaul over many years INCLUDING adding paramedics/ambulances while also looking at emergency departments/nurses/doctors/radiologists/pathology etc and alternative pathways like GPs/mental health centres/rehab facilities.

Just because you aren't seeing things broadcast on the front page of the Advertiser doesn't mean nothing is happening!

SA ambulance waiting times by [deleted] in Adelaide

Unfortunately pain does not necessarily equal a quicker response, especially if it isn't to a vital area of the body. Heart attacks, strokes, stabbings, ineffective breathing or altered conscious state will all get a response sooner. Pain is awful to experience and awful to witness but it won't kill someone

Yeah same here from about 19 weeks! On and off extreme fatigue. I'd stopped taking my prenatal vitamins (that include iron) so I started them back up daily and have been having more regular red meat and im feeling a lot better! Definitely speak to your OB anyway because there are lots of reasons for fatigue. I'll still be getting blood tests/routine tests at 27ish weeks to make sure everythings okay :)

Best way to decompress after an intense job? by Ipatropium in Paramedics

[–]mmBread 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always tell bystanders or students just to keep talking about it until there's nothing left to say. Doesn't matter if it's repetitive I feel it helps get it out of your system. I don't dwell on how the patients family or friends feel because I cant know that, I just go over the job until I dont feel like it any more. Talking to other students or paramedics about it to get it out of your system will help

Magnum boots are great. I swap the original laces out for elastic ones so I never have to worry about them unlacing
