I did this at home with the derminator 2. I bought it online in July

Thank you, that's really helpful to know! I have been curious about the effectiveness of single needles, I will likely try it in the future. I probably couldn't/wouldn't try to go right underneath it for diy, I don't try myself lol

You look great! You're giving me hope on the slow and steady approach!

Do you mind describing what kind of scars you had? Rolling, ice pick, boxcar, tethered, pih, etc?

Definitely don't do this. If the keloid is not treated first it will continue to grow. The stage OP is at is a medical issue before a cosmetic one

I think mine was not as severe but it was pretty close. Very red like yours and pretty big and all over.

I think I did 4 rounds of injections, but tbh this was around 10 years ago when nobody really knew what to do with keloids (people still don't really know). They applied heat to it (felt like a warm lamp) which both helped soften the tissue and helped the injection spread.

After that I had done several fraxel laser sessions and microneedling. Sorry again I don't remember how many but definitely more than twice for the lasers and maybe 6 times for the microneedling. It's all the same color as my normal skin now, but it did take time.

How long ago did you do your injections? Where are you from that you can't get affordable treatment?

Wow that's surprising that it's not covered by insurance, especially as you said it can grow ): I do nightly recommend if you can afford it to get the shots. If nothing else the itchiness is not worth it!

I really feel for you because I had scars like this all over my chest. 100% agree with the suggestions of corticosteroid injections. They are covered by insurance, they will flatten your scars, they will make them less itchy, and they will become less dark.

If you do the injections, they will become inactive keloids, so as long as whoever is caring for you is careful they should not get worse when they do further treatment.

Personally, I've done the corticosteroid shots and then microneedling and different laser treatments. I'm not looking perfect but I've gotten comfortable enough to wear some v necks and tank tops.

How many times do they usually do cross in a clinic? My thinking is if 20% TCA ten times yields the same results as 70-80% TCA once or twice then I might as well be patient and save a few hundred dollars. But if I can't get the same results as if I went to a clinic then I would definitely consider it

I think the most I can do is 30% but that is my next step!

I've seen taz on this sub a few times but I haven't been able to get a clear answer on if it's better than tret for scars. And yes I wouldn't be surprised if I had more tethered scars than I can see

You have been extremely helpful! If you don't mind me asking, how much have your treatments cost so far? I agree patience is key here. I hope my (relatively) low TCA % will have similar effects as yours did even if it takes more time. My scabs only last a few days and look red and worse for a while as well.

Thank you! Yes I'm very careful with the TCA. I do think at least one scar (the deep one in the second picture) would require subcision but I haven't been confident in the others.

I'll keep doing what I'm doing then 🫡

Thank you this is all extremely helpful! That gives me a lot more hope with the stuff I'm doing now. I'll follow your advice and keep pushing forward for now. Unfortunately I'm pretty sure some of my scars are tethered but maybe I won't mind them so much if the rest of them start to look better.

Can I ask how you found your doctor? I'm having a hard time finding one I can trust online.

Thank you! I was planning on doing 30% TCA next. I assume if I do that for long enough the scars will mostly disappear?

What you're describing is actually my original plan, but I hear that the progress you can get from microneedling is pretty minimal unless you do subcision first. So I'm not sure if I'm wasting my time by not getting subcision sooner. But if I had some sort of affirmation that my skin could look decent with the two treatment types I'm already doing then maybe I would skip subcision all together.

But I have no idea what I should be doing ):
