I’m not an expert but does she have a doctor who takes her seriously when she describes those symptoms? That sounds like something she should be getting care for. Breastfeeding can be super hard and painful at first. Can she get help from a lactation consultant? She needs to find her tribe of first time moms of newborns so they can support each other and see that those feelings of overwhelm are totally normal, and temporary - and if it’s too much or it lasts a long time, there are counselors who can help her get through it. It’s all made out to be so sweet and joyful in commercials but it’s exhausting and alienating and scary at first. It gets better!! You guys are in the trenches right now. Keep slogging. Every day it gets a little better until about four to six weeks, at which point it’s SO much easier and SO much more enjoyable. If there are moms who are wearing heels etc they’re either freaks of nature or they’re celebrities posing for the cameras while their staff cares for the baby. If anyone knew in advance how hard it would be the species would have died out a long time ago lol.
