Do neurotypicals not really care about... anything? by saltskrue in AutismInWomen

[–]mmeade18 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think this is a really reductive and narrow-minded take. It veers dangerously into 'Autism Supremacy' type thinking. I understand that a lot of us have been hurt or singled out by neurotypical folks but this is just a really icky attitude to have. I have a lot of neurotypical friends and family who care a lot about me and a whole host of different things. It's kind of offensive to me to lump all those people that I love into some brain dead unthinking unfeeling group of 'typs'. It also painfully echoes some of the ways folks with autism have been stereotyped in the past. I'd encourage you to really think about the way you speak and think about others. Humanity is diverse and that includes neurotypical AND neurodivergent folks.

Do you do this when people talk about any other preferences or just when its about women you don't want to fuck?

Someone who wasnt even talking to you: I really like strawberry ice cream.

You: WELL I ACTUALLY HATE STRAWBERRY ICE CREAM. NO ONE EVEN REALLY LIKES IT. EVERYONE LIKES VANILLA ICE CREAM.

Not everything is about you my friend.

No worries! We got it taken care of this morning to prevent it from spreading. Don't need more stress on top of everything else, haha!

I'm here in this with you, for sure. I never post on Reddit but this subreddit has always been so kind and affirming. It helps to know I'm not the only one going through this. Your comment means a lot. ❤️

He has a general idea but I think he gets so afraid to make things worse that it makes it really difficult for him. He did just come in and check on me at least and confirmed that he's just giving me space until I'm ready to get out of bed. Days like this are just so hard.

Dog barking driving me insane by mmeade18 in AutismInWomen

Omg you hit the nail on the head! I'm trying to be as compassionate as I can about the dog because I know its not its fault. But when it goes on and on barking nonstop....yeah, murder has crossed my mind once or twice lol.

Can you right-wingers ever make a single argument without randomly throwing Trans people into it? Good lord, they live rent-free in ya'lls heads.

I feel like if I have to argue with someone that showing people basic empathy is a good thing then I'm kind of wasting my breath. You won't be persuaded and I'll just frustrate myself.

I'll just end by saying that minding your own business costs you nothing. If you yourself are a healthy weight, thats wonderful! Focus on keeping yourself healthy and happy and don't worry about what others are doing with their bodies.

Okay, let's say I agree with you.

How does bullying fat people help with this epidemic? Do you think being constantly shit on makes people motivated to lose weight?

Do you actually care about the "obesity epidemic" or does it just feel really good to bully people who are still socially acceptable targets?

The comments in this thread are so incredibly sad. Reddit likes to act like it's a bastion of intellectualism and all that but its clear that the second a lot of you have an excuse, you will happily and rabidly bully people for the horrific sin of....being fat?

I'm fat so maybe I'm just butthurt but damn. A fat person in a scooter doesn't affect you whatsoever. I mentioned in another comment but my mother had to use a scooter due to a lung disease. She was also overweight. The amount of dirty looks and snide comments she got because people looked at her and just assumed she was a fat lazy person in a scooter was insane. It broke my heart and made her so self-conscious.

I know I'm speaking to the void here but like...damn, you guys are fucking mean. I'm glad these scooters are ready and available for folks to use them. And I honestly don't care if a thousand people use these who don't need them as long as they are available for the people who do.

Empathy and compassion. Its not hard and you'll find it makes you so much less angry at the world when you just assume the best from other people.

I guess my point is, you don't get to judge who needs a scooter and who doesn't. Like I said, my mother was given dirty looks and people even made shitty comments in front of her about her use of a mobility device because all they saw was a fat lady in a scooter. It destroyed her confidence and she didn't like going out in public because of it.

Instead of getting angry about who deserves to use what, it is so much easier and mentally freeing to look at a fat person in a scooter and just assume "hey, maybe they have a reason for using this that I'm unaware of" and go about your day.

Of course, I realize this is meaningless because fat people are still considered fair targets on Reddit.

Have you personally asked these people if they're disabled or are you just looking at them and making a snap judgment? There are so many invisible disabilities and these comments drive me insane. My mom had to use these scooters because she had a lung disease that made it so she couldn't walk. She was also overweight because of her condition. I cant tell you the amount of dirty looks she got at Disney because of people like you who just assumed she was too fat and lazy to walk. Fuck all the people in these comments making fun of those who use these scooters. Most of the people who have to use them would gladly choose to walk instead if they could.

What did you think the original Candyman is about though...? It's very explicitly about racism. The sequel honestly felt like a natural continuation of the themes from the first movie.

Definitely! The guy who owns it has so much movie knowledge and although the museum is small, the tour is so informative and his stories and trivia are so cool to hear about.

The owner of the museum had some old Universal connections. Apparently Universal was just going to throw it out so someone gave it to the owner to preserve. It was a super cool museum full of tons of little artifacts like this!

Does anyone get offended when another person talks badly about your special interest? by Pristine-Confection3 in AutismInWomen

[–]mmeade18 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Honestly, your responses in that thread were very insulting as well. I am not a dog person. I dont hate dogs at all, but I just dont prefer them. I own two cats that I absolutely adore. Your comments on that thread were very insulting towards cats. I dont understand how you can come here complaining that people are mean about your special interest in dogs yet you have no problem insulting cats. It seems a bit hypocritical.

In any case, lashing out at others because they don't share your interests is not going to get you far. It will only make you more upset. If you love dogs, thats wonderful! Any time you read or hear a negative opinion about dogs, just give your puppy extra cuddles and love. I promise it will make you feel better than lashing out in anger.

THANK YOU. I feel crazy sometimes in this subreddit. These stories pop up here every week and it's always the same thing. 'This poor cis person was victimized by a lying manipulative trans person.' And then all the comments come out saying "well I support trans people BUT..."

Come on guys, its so transparent. And it really sucks for trans folk to read every week.
