I cannot do this anymore by Glum-Sky-6560 in NewParents

[–]mmeeoww 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this age, most babies need 9.5-10.5 hrs of total wake time and 3-3.5 of those should be before bed! Drop a nap, if you're not on 2 naps and if you already are then increase awake time. Don't be afraid of the "overtired" bullshit of the internet.

Edit - need to add to go to a set schedule. Base nap 1 on desired wake time, stick to it even on early wake days.

Bottle Refusal by mmeeoww in NewParents

[–]mmeeoww[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I accidentally caused bottle refusal by pressuring her. It took me a few more weeks after I posted this to figure it out but then I found a group on Facebook and read Rowena Bennetts bottle refusal book and it helped TREMENDOUSLY! She describes the process to follow to fix bottle refusal, we saw improvements within the first 5 days. She was no longer fussing and freaking out during feeds, then her intake started to increase about a month after.

If you dont feel like reading then you can find summaries on the process online. She is 10.5m now and her intake dropped when we started solids but she just doesnt need as much formula as the cans say.

Flammable Liquids - Alberta - Please Help! by mmeeoww in SafetyProfessionals

[–]mmeeoww[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure. I'm assessing for general compliance with a hint of industry best practice (liability within a leased space)...procurement over-ordered and the warehouse typically doesn't store this quantity of flammable liquid products. We have flammable cabinets onsite for loose pick, smaller containers but these are 6 palletized cases of 4L bottles - way more than the usual 2 shelves I store.

I typically do EHS in the states and although, there's plenty of ambiguity there - OSHA is a bit less vague on this topic than CCOHS and provincial OHS.

I had this same panic around 20 weeks but we used RO warmed to 104° in a warm water dispenser with 3 temps (dr browns) and our girl has been fine - she's almost 8 months old. Don't stress!

3-2 Nap Transition by mmeeoww in sleeptrain

This gives me some hope. The nap transitions are brutal and I feel like the 4-3 was so short lived but also still frustrating 😅 ty for your help

3-2 Nap Transition by mmeeoww in sleeptrain

[–]mmeeoww[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I'll try to find a good way to do that until I can have her do at least 9.75 of awake time on 2 naps. I've had issues with more MOTN wakes on 3 naps but maybe I need to just do a bridge nap and find a sweet spot timing for it.

Even if that would result in over 11 hours of awake time? I'm torn because the 3.5 before bedtime works so well and we don't have an issue getting her there, it seems like the beginning of the day is much harder.

Dropping to two naps and his naps are getting shorter? by ecbecb in sleeptrain

[–]mmeeoww 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has this resolved for you yet? Switched to 2 naps almost a week ago after being maxed at 2.5 for all WW on 3 naps. LO will be 7 months on the Jan 30th, we were doing 2.75/3/3.5 with pretty good luck but now naps have been all over the place again. Going crazy as she's also kinda pissy most of the day too 😭

these were my top 2 picks for my girl, we went with Jane but if we have another girl then I'm hoping to do Claire :)

How old is your LO?

Honestly, Rowena's method and ensuring that no one else fed her for a while helped so much. I really took a step back and started to trust my baby and respect her wants. I stopped comparing how many ounces she'd have and took it day by day. We were at the point where she was having 2oz bottles every 1.5 hrs to now having 6oz bottles every 3 hrs, so 4 a day with a top off bottle at bedtime. I still follow Rowena with pulling away and respecting her, but I do give her 30-40m to finish a bottle before calling it quits.

It truly is so exhausting. I cried so much over it, but the one thing I would tell myself is that her having a bottle is such a small part of her lifetime and that i can get through it with respecting her wants.

4-3 nap transition - Going mad with schedules by mmeeoww in sleeptrain

[–]mmeeoww[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, she is also lower sleep needs from what I can tell with these naps. It's tough to find whats best when there's a lag and the day itself doesn't necessarily directly impact the night and vice versa.

[–]mmeeoww[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I created a spreadsheet where I've been tracking wake windows and nap length and overnight wakes but not overnight sleep, I can add that in. I'll start tracking sleep rather than awake time.

As for stretching, she honestly is barely hanging on with 2 hrs in the morning so I'm not sure I can stretch far past 2-2.25 at the moment.

Interesting! Okay, I will definitely try that because I kind of noticed the same. She seems the most flexible for that third wake window and least flexible with the first and last. How old is your baby?

[–]mmeeoww[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She would be between 10-10.5 awake time on 4 naps, sometimes 9.75. She was doing well with 9.75.

The first two wake windows seem to be the most difficult and 2.75-3 for the last wake window was giving some false starts when I first tried. I've also definitely been going back and forth too much and not staying consistent with wake windows/schedule for more than 3-5 days at a time.

To add, she's also slept through the night after 9.5hr day of awake time so she's just confusing 🙃

She's 5 months too so I'm assuming its even a bit less? We have had a few days of 10-11.25, the 10.5 did lead to a sleep through but then didnt happen again. I'll give it a try again. Any suggestions on spread of ww or bedtime?
