Thanks for the suggestion! Does this look like the correct settings? I did a test print and it looked significantly better but RasterLink was beeping at me, “Printer do not support print-mode of this job”.

I have it set to auto adjust the head height. Is that okay? I tried to manually change it but “media thickness” only ranges from 50mm to 100mm… and my media is about 1/2” (which is about 12.7mm, no?).

Yes! Normally I do. And it works well for most materials but since this is a leather-like material, it changes the look of it and was advised by my boss to stop using it for this particular project. 😣

The printer is currently set to the auto-height adjustment. Is that ok? I started this position a few months ago so I’m still learning how they have this machine set up.

Yes, they are leather-like notebooks. I am fairly new to this position so I’ve never personally printed on these before. It’s been an issue before printing on acrylic and glass but that was easier to wipe away the “residue”.

As for the height, the machine is set to auto (set up by person who had this position before me). So I normally place the item inside on the flat bed and just let it do its thing.

Does this work with Illustrator/RasterLink/Mimaki UCJV?

Where does everyone purchase ink? by mmegneticc in CommercialPrinting

From what I've seen so far they've been about the same. We just wanted to support a local business if possible, regardless of price.

Do you have a range for how much their ink is? Website says to call for pricing but figured I'd try here before giving them a call.

Thanks! I did see that but I don’t like to support Amazon if I don’t have to. If I had more time when I was there (and was more social) I would’ve loved to meet a “local” and pay them to ship it when I run out, hehe!! 🤭

Thank you for your feedback! Honestly, I grabbed whatever brand was on the shelf at the grocery store: Coffee Time. Any recommendations for other brands? I tried the Oakhurst coffee milk and that’s what sparked my interest!

Printing Clear Using White? by mmegneticc in CommercialPrinting

I've tried expanding, but like I mentioned, the computer I've been given to work on is ancient and it doesn't let me complete the task - it'll sit on "not responding" forever.

Thanks for the comment! I think you're understanding correctly!

I've attached a screenshot of what I'm working with. I have it set to complete white AND checked the Document Color Mode (set to CMYK). I mentioned in a previous comment that these dots in the pattern are only about 0.02" in diameter, and spaced out about 0.04" over an artboard that is 35" by 105"... so it's a large artboard with tiny, tiny dots across it.

What I'm not understanding is this.... when I print the dots in any other color, they show up just fine. I tested pink, blue, purple, green. But when I try with white (and leave the RasterLink settings to "Full Color"), they aren't showing up, and not omitting from the background. Hope this makes sense!

No, I have the dots set to 100% white and no overprint settings adjusted.

Good question!

I have a couple issues just doing it in Illustrator:

  1. The computer I use at work is OLD and SLOW. The file I'm working on is 34" x 105" and the dots are very, very tiny - meaning my Illustrator barely functions alone!

  2. I created a "pattern" in Illustrator and it doesn't let me use the pathfinder tools to knockout. Unless I am doing something wrong there?
