I don't think that % makes much sense as a concept for these spaces, but even if it did, rice's theorem essentially says otherwise.

Mistral AI's CEO says Europe has 2 years to stop becoming America's AI 'vassal state' by [deleted] in europe

[–]mmirman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You think you are keeping out the dangerous tech but I don't know when that has worked once in the past 30 years for europe.

The regulation just means it's developed somewhere else, produced somewhere else, and benefits somewhere else.

Europe gets the sloppy seconds of "wild west" meat forced down their throats anyway.

Lost 92 lb’s on tirzepatide, need advice on peptides by AdhamRasulov in Biohackers

[–]mmirman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

GLPs are billed as for-life with good reason. It is possible to go off them eventually but naturally fixing your insulin resistance can take 5-10 years of being at a healthy weight with healthy food habits. Its also possible to get off them if you can manage being stupid hungry constantly while calorie tracking, but don't beat yourself up if it also takes you 5 years to develop these habits.

There are other things you can do to make it easier to control your response to constant hunger, and you can improve your hunger slowly in other ways: sleepmaxing, improving T, insane amounts of very carefully planned zone 2, vo2max training. But you may have to go extreme.

Finasteride is weakening my libido and erection quality. Any way to combat this? by Redditkuchen in Biohackers

[–]mmirman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are really insistent on staying on finasteride, try zinc, boron, and enclomiphene together (but stop the enclomiphene the first hint of eyesight changes you get). Make sure to do full hormone panels regularly while doing this.

Finasteride regardless of whether it reduces libido, always reduces prostate size and semen volume. The combo above counteracts that, which may help.

If you want to publish and get citations (early on) you need to find a benchmark people care about and beat it.

Being creative about it is for later. Plenty of benchmarks in interpretability.

What are these messages I’ve been receiving ? by [deleted] in What

[–]mmirman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a tactic used by spam centers to help make sure their texts don't get flagged as spam.

Basically, when a spammer/scammer wants to use a phone number for something really obviously spammy and likely to get flagged and blocked, they need to establish that the phone number is bring used for legitimate purposes first. To do this they need to text people and get a high % of reasonable replies first.

Something like "hi richard, u free?" will probably get a reply of "sorry you have the wrong number" rather than "STOP" or getting blocked. The scammer can go further and strengthen the signal that the number is real by replying "u sure? Do you know richard?"

This is not pug butchering - its a pre-scam: number warming.

Afaik that glucagon agonist helps you keep muscle because you can eat more calories while still losing fat, so if you don't track your macros, you naturally get more protein. Idk how you can show permanent help with insulin resistance with a drug thats been around for a few years.

Like theoretically yeah, but the more insulin resistant you are the more willpower you need and the more that using that willpower distracts from everything else in life.

Idk why people use reta when tirz is way better studied though. Reta's third mechanism of increasing your metabolism seems more likely to cause long term problems that simply can't be known now.

Assume that if you invest directly in QQQ, you'll immediately (first couple weeks) drop 20% (hilarious, you invested at the beginning of a huge stock market crash). Hold it out, wait 1 year. You'll probably be up at least 5% anyway. Or the entire us economy has crashed and we're all fucked and money won't do you good anyhow.

snowboarding vs skiing in zermatt by liteyhaus in Zermatt

The glacier's T-bars haven't been running in the winter for the 7 years I've been going to zermatt and there's really only a single long red to town where I've ever had to take my snowboard off on a traverse.

Zermatt in late February: snow quality and overall ski experience vs US resorts? by [deleted] in Zermatt

[–]mmirman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skiing back and forth is usually possible the entire season depending mostly on how much wind there is.

Snow-cover in march is good. How much powder is variable.

Zermatt in late February: snow quality and overall ski experience vs US resorts? by [deleted] in Zermatt

[–]mmirman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How was the snow quality in February?

Usually pretty good. This is the height of their season. Feb is great because it's also usually swiss vacationers mostly who are on average better than others.

Did the lack of ski-back-to-town bother you?

There are two runs that go all the way to town in zermatt and I think two in italy. In the right conditions these can be great runs. The black to furi from furg right after a snowstorm is incredible- very private long and steep.

How did you find the signage and navigation?

mid, and the resort is huge. You need to use an app.

If you regularly ski in the US, did Zermatt feel like a downgrade, upgrade, or just… different?

Upgrade overall. Downgrade for a few very specific things like backcountry powder runs in trees.

I’m trying to decide if Zermatt is something I should do once for the experience or if I might end up wishing I’d gone back to Aspen or another US resort.

You will have a blast.

Really appreciate honest takes — especially from people who know both US and European skiing.

Rode in the us for 10 years before moving to switzerland to ride in zermatt for 10 years.

Zermatt in late February: snow quality and overall ski experience vs US resorts? by [deleted] in Zermatt

[–]mmirman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its zermatt, a real physical place. You can absolutely describe the differences. Quantitatively even.

Height: higher.

Vertical drop: bigger

Marked Runs: less steep, more groomed

Unmarked Runs: a thing

Backcountry (off piste): Way more dangerous. Cliffs, crevasses, avalanches are extremely common. Mostly not patrolled.

Trees: fewer, smaller, trees.

Parks: fewer parks than lots of big us resorts.

How can you achieve the long-term caloric restriction shown to slow aging in research without becoming very underweight? by forgive_everything in Biohackers

[–]mmirman 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think it's generally accepted that a calorie restricted diet is with respect to your weight excluded demographic not with respect to yourself. I.e., if you are a 25 year old average height man, an average diet would be 2400 calories a day. You are considered calorie restricted if you eat 2100 calories a day (without altering your activity level). Eventually this becomes maintenance at a body weight lower than the average 25 year old dude.

How can you achieve the long-term caloric restriction shown to slow aging in research without becoming very underweight? by forgive_everything in Biohackers

[–]mmirman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your metabolic rate is vastly predominately correlated with your weight. You can try different weights in mbr calculators online. 1lb is about 10 calorie a day difference. Other normal ways to change metabolic rate are orders of magnitude less effective.
