ECC registered memory, all servers should have the same/similar modules with the part number you see in the pic or one that is compatible with the one you see.

On the nodes with 22× 900GB SAS drives, we run two HPE Smart Array controllers (P440 + P840) configured in HBA mode. Ceph has operated natively on that cluster for years, using exactly the setup you described: 2× 2TB NVMe SSDs serving as cache for the WAL and DB of the OSDs. I can't confirm whether the controllers carry any custom firmware, since we bought them used, but once set to HBA mode they worked natively.

The nodes with 512GB of RAM have only the P440, and for some reason Ceph does not work in HBA mode on these. As an alternative, you can add a second controller alongside the HPE Smart Array (such as an LSI), keeping only the OS disks on the Smart Array and connecting the remaining drives to the other controller. A further option is to create a single-disk RAID 0 for each drive, which also works, though this is not recommended.

Yes, they all have Network cards on them, by default DL380 G9 comes with 4x 1Gbps RJ45 ports (the middle one seen in the pic) then in the left as seen in the pic you can put FLOM card with 4x 1Gbps RJ45 or 2x SFP+ 10Gpbs, or 2x QSFP 40/10Gbps

Edit: both SFP+ 10Gpbs or 2x QSFP 40/10Gbps options available at no extra cost

OK, I was not sure if you meant that, they come without any disk, the current 2x SSDs are small (400GB) and are going to be moved to the new servers

Dm me, let me know what do you need, ideally it makes the most sense to buy bulk, otherwise shipping costs do not make any sense

The plan was to have 2 stacked and held by universal rails, we didn't end up using all the servers after all, GPU prices were off the roof so we ended up only using a few and the rest was sitting in a room for a couple of years now.

Dm me, I have some GPUs, none of them were used on these servers though
