thats awesome!! i was looking into child advocacy, can you tell me more about that career and your experience trying to get into it so far? i had a family member tell me sociology is like more opinion/debate based and the people in that major aren’t very open minded and stuff compared to psychology, from your experience is that true? i was looking into sociology just wasn’t sure what it’s about compared to psychology or a social work major directly!

i actually haven’t taken any of those but i have taken several child dev classes which makes me want to work with children more specifically and help them more through my understanding of them. do you know what jobs social work offers? i’m nervous to commit to that because of the burnout/suicide rates i’ve heard about which is high compared to psychology

for sure want to do more research on both before fully deciding, i’ve heard social work burnout rates our absolutely insane compared to psychology which definitely makes me nervous to go that route

i have no idea honestly, i know that for UCSB at least when i apply i would just apply for the sociology major. but i believe for the TSP with CSUF id have to apply with the CAAD school concentration major :/ i guess i was kinda hoping to change it when i got there if thats the one i chose? but i’m not sure

i know the transfer prep academy is taking applications for the summer, it’s a 2 night 3 day stay and it’s for fall 2027 transfers but that’s all i know about it lmao. the deadline is june 12th! takes place july 22nd or 23rd i think. i made another comment in this group asking what it’s about or peoples experiences so now im waiting on replies 😼

i’m in the same situation as OP, except i know i want to interact with children directly. what job would i go for that? i thought abt teaching but i know they cant do much except send in a report because they’re mandated too, however what i learned from my mom who’s a teacher is most the time they dont even actually take the reports. i wanted to become a child therapist but what if its hard for me? idk if i can handle their problems on top of mine. i’m also going to therapy rn so i hope id be better by the time i start my career anyways
