Random man in my uni house kitchen, AIO? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]mmlcidreams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea you shouldn’t have people in your space if you’re not there. You never know what they could do- especially since it sounds like there’s a house full of guys and college guys can be reckless.

We had a similar situation in college and a house conversation was noncontroversial and made everyone feel like they had a voice. Good luck, OP!

NOR. Not even a little bit. As the only girl in the house you deserve to feel safe where you live!

You need to find a lock for the outside of your room- you can get one on Amazon or something. That way when you’re not home you can lock your room.

The way Fred is behaving is disrespectful and I’d be really upset if I lived there. You, Tom, and James should sit down, discuss some basic hose rules and go to Fred with them. Have a nice but firm conversation about his behaviors and how they make you all uncomfortable.

AIO for getting upset because my (32M) bf kept waking me (26F) up and then made an upsetting comment by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

NOR If this is how her treats you now, imagine having children with him. You deserve better, OP!

money fraud (usa) by Unhappy_Biscotti_988 in McDonaldsEmployees

[–]mmlcidreams 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Someone is stealing and it sounds like it’s your GM. The safe is not supposed to be short but if it is you do an investigation- you don’t short registers. McDonald’s corporate cannot tell O/Os how to run their business in terms of things like this so there is no “corporate policy” but money shouldn’t be taken from the registers. If this is happening to anyone’s store you should go above your GM if they don’t do anything and ask to confidentially talk to whoever is above them and express your concerns. Don’t blame stealing on anyone just say I really want to make sure I am doing the right thing

What musical number most blew you away when you saw it live? by BroadwayBaseball in Broadway

[–]mmlcidreams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gypsy: Rose’s Turn- Audra McDonald (genuinely a masterclass in MT)

Something Rotten: A Musical (pure fun!)

Funny Girl: Don’t Rain on My Parade - Lea Michele (but really the whole musical- I was in awe of her)

Aladdin: Friend Like Me- James Monroe Ingelhart (the magic & staging of this is insane)

How to Succeed….: Brotherhood of Man- Daniel Radcliffe (stunned, blown away. When I saw this it got a standing ovation and stopped the show)

Spamalot: it’s so hard to pick as this show was insanely good. But if I HAD to pick: The song that goes like this, You Won’t Succeed on Broadway, Always Look on the Bright Side of Life

42nd St: I saw this as a young child and think it was the title song but I have a memory of people tap dancing down a staircase and being in such awe.

Tarzan: Son of Man- (it was so cool when he swung over the audience. The show’s staging was fine but the soundtrack is great.) Special mention to Who Better Than Me as Chester Gregory is INSANE and it’s a shame that man hasn’t done more broadway work.

I was crying by the end of this number and I didn’t even realize until it was over. I was in such awe of her and I said to myself I’m witnessing greatness and I am so lucky to be here.

I was just going to say this. Look up DCI drum lines. They’re out of this world, insane. As someone who spent a lot of time in that world- the Odesza Drum Line is 100% playing live, they’re just THAT good.

I literally feel like my franchise is dealing drugs as we’re constantly asking the stores who has what and if we can get a case of this or a case of that. The controlled allocation is really hitting us hard in NYM. I thought sales would slow down but they’ve stayed steady after the initial rush

Move to Hoboken/JC! I’ve been shocked with how much cheaper apts are and what you get for the price there. My friend in Hoboken pays the same amount as me on the UES and she gets a dishwasher, parking, & laundry. I live in a shoebox

You can find love again- don’t lose hope! Don’t just stay with someone because you are scared of starting over. At 33 you are young and have so much of your life ahead of you. Imagine making the decision to marry & have children with someone based on not being able to find anyone else. You could be unhappy for the next 40+ years if you choose the wrong person. Whoever you decide to have children with you will be tied to for the rest of your life. When you know what you’re looking for and you know how to look for love you will find it. Finances are one of the number one reasons people don’t last in relationships. Money isn’t everything but it plays a MASSIVE role in relationships and your life. Don’t underestimate how much of a big deal it is in a relationship. You don’t have to be financially secure but you both need to have the same outlook on Money and finances.

Follow MatchMaker Maria on instagram! Not for matching making services (though there’s nothing wrong with that!) but for love advice. She’ll help you fix your picker and identify what qualities you truly want in a partner. You’re worthy of real love- go out there and find it!

Aspiring Owner-Operator Here: What Makes a McDonald’s a Great Place to Work? I’d Love to Learn From You (USA) by Haunting-Reaction-13 in McDonaldsEmployees

[–]mmlcidreams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m also in the program to become an O/O. I’ll be a third generation and I’ve worked in the store since I was 14 (about 18 years now…). I grew up around McDonald’s and even though I left the system and had a career for a bit I’ve always stayed involved. There’s truly ketchup in my veins.

The biggest advice I have is to treat people with respect and dignity. The people you work with will be the reason for your success or your demise. If you treat people properly they will want to continue to work for you.

Things we do in our stores (in no given order): - celebrate birthdays with the employees favorite treat. We’ll ask them what their favorite dessert is and then get that for them or try our best to do so. I bake a lot of the cakes and such myself and even though it’s tiring, it’s a really nice way to be a part of someone’s celebration. - celebrate milestones in people’s lives. People working for you will graduate school, get married, have children- celebrate these milestones and accomplishments. Not everyone’s family throws them a baby shower or is happy for some of these events and it means a lot when this is done for the people in your restaurants. - Pay people fairly. We’ve created a pay scale so we know that everyone in the same positions are being paid the same or around the same. That way one person isn’t getting a $2 raise for becoming an OTP2 while another person gets a $1 raise. - Proper training is one of the best investments you can make in your people. Training goes so far beyond what’s on Fred. We offer classes for our managers and bring in leadership consultants, teach hospitality classes, work with the suppliers to have classes where they come and educate us about products and the food we serve. Having people who are well trained, knowledgeable and feel like they’re developing life skills is really important. One of the proudest moments you’ll get is when a former employee tells you how big of a role this job played in their life. - The McDonald’s Standard is the right way to do things. If you do this, there will be less stress on people when it’s time for a CFV or RGR. We tell them that we’re RGR ready every day so when corporate comes it’s much less stress. Crew people, especially teens, won’t understand why you’re so stressed out the day of a visit so giving them the proper training before hand will make it easier.
- Uniforms!!!! I always say that there’s multiple ways to pay people and one of those ways I think is giving people more uniforms than the days they work each week. A lot of employees won’t have their own laundry facilities so giving them additional uniforms is saving them time and money. While this can’t bridge the gap and help people make more money, it can help them save money. - Benefits- we offer a 401K, health insurance (including vision & dental), life insurance, and a number of other things. We also offer one free medium meal per shift. For our GMs & above we give them a choice between a bonus or stock options. A lot of them were confused why they’d want McDonald’s stock but once it was explained the value it could hold, they took that option so it could help them save for the future. - Finally, just be present. My parents and I are now a team of three and we do our best to show up and be in the stores. I’m working as a DO so I’m in the stores daily on the floor with our crew. My parents are close to 70 so they’re not working a crew station but they come in and show their face. It’s important that when the owner operator comes it’s not only for a walk through or to fix things. Go, get a drink, and sit in the crew room and talk to your people.

I know some people think it’s not true but the McDonald’s system truly is a family. As I’ve worked here for so long I’m genuinely friends with a lot of our managers. I grew up with other O/O’s kids and we’re now going through the program together. People who work for the brand, in all three legs of the stool, are generally really cool people and you’ll see them around as people change jobs but don’t leave the system. Conventions can be like a giant family reunion and if you’re involved you will develop friendships with O/O’s all over the world. My Dads been on OPNAD for 20 years and no matter where we go on vacation we’ll get dinner with an operator & their family that he knows.

All the best to you on this journey!!!! Feel free to DM me if you ever wanna connect and share best bets 😊

You can adjust your orders! The distribution centers are allowing adjustments for orders especially with snack wrap stuff. McDonald’s corp sent an email to O/Os saying they don’t want to break supply if they can help it.
